Does self tanning lotion make ur skin orange?

I bought some self tanning lotion for prom so that i wont be so whit! but, my boyfriend said that it'll turn my skin orange. is it true?

Old self tanning lotion has carotin wich makes ur skin orange but todays self tanning lotion shouldn't do that...

Some do and some don't. It also depends on the way and how much you apply.
Reply:So long as you didn't get some off brand cheap one, you should be good. Make sure you exfoliate first so you don't look blotchy. Oh...and hopefully your dress isn't white. Maybe use a bronzer(like MAC) after, just in case so you will have more brown (and a little sparkle).

Reply:There are certain brands of self tanner that do, in fact, give your skin an orange tint. Be choosy in the kind that you buy. Make sure you exfoliate before applying the self tanner to your skin. To make sure you apply the self tanner evenly, it also helps to put lotion on your body first and then apply the self tanner. Make sure you wash your hands immediately after applying the tanner as they are most likely to turn orange. Be careful around you elbows and heals. It also helps if you have someone help you put it on to ensure even distribution of the tanner and to ensure you don't apply too much. It is better to apply a thin layer of self tanner once a day for a few days than to apply a thick layer in just application
Reply:everybody that i know that has used that stuff looks even worse because you an tell. they are soo orange and fake looking and if you dont do your whole body then you are uneven. i would recommend going tanning like 5 times. it wont be bad for you cuz it isnt enough exposure to harm your skin that much. it is actually good for you!! it adds vitamins to your skin.
