Best tanning product??

I've gotten quite pale over winter

but its still too cold to do any laying out

what's yr favorite tanning product and why?

indicate if its a spray, cream, etc.

thanksss
Best tanning product??
i dont know but you should not be "laying out" in the sun!! you'll get skincancer, i guarantee it!
Best tanning product??
avon sunless tanning lotion. i love it for when i don't have the time (or the weather!) to lay in the sun!

shower. apply. color in about an hour.

never streaky or orange, just nice brown color. and you can reapply it in a couple days and get darker, it doesn't just stop at one shade.

and the person above me--don't believe them. while laying in the sun (especially without sunscreen) is a good way to increase your chances of getting skin cancer, you are NEVER guaranteed to get cancer. never ever ever ever. not any type of cancer, not anything. NEVER.
Reply:I like to use Neutrogena mousse

and, I don't apply it with my hands because it always turns out streaky, I fold a paper towel a few times and apply some onto the paper towel and then run it into my skin.
Reply:I personally use a tanning booth, its very relaxing and you get tan too! But I do know that it somewhat unhealthy for your skin. Another alternative is a spray tan, a lot of times called the "Mystic Tan". Many tanning salons offer these types and it is completely healthy. Pricing usually ranges from $20 - $30, and it lasts up to 10 days.

Good luck!
Reply:Umm professional spray tan duuhhh its expensive but you have to pay to be beutiful

Which is better tanning in a tanning bed OR outside in the sun..???

i know tanning is bad in general...but still.
Which is better tanning in a tanning bed OR outside in the sun..???
tanning bed bcuz in a tanning bed u can control how long and how much uv rays u are exposed to. but sunlest tanning lotion is best. however i do the tanning bed. it works for me. better then the sun with results. just take it slow and use a mosterizoer or body wash like dove's energy glow moisturizing body wash to help keep your tan so you don't have to go to the tanning bed as often.
Which is better tanning in a tanning bed OR outside in the sun..???
Neither , use spray tan. Outsde in the sun is REALLY bad for you cause you could get skin cancer.
Reply:well personally i get much tanner way faster in the sun..depends which you prefer and how fast you tan in both..
Reply:The actual sun is better for you than the harsh uv rays of the tanning bed.
Reply:probably the sun because you get vitamins from it.. but remember dont tan for too long!!
Reply:Well, a sun tan is more natural... But there's a risk of skin caner. NEVER USE A TANNING BED! You can get melanoma. Very bad. I would have to go with spray-on.
Reply:Neither. Both of these things will cause premature aging, and you'll begin to be sorry at probably 30 years old. I don't think spray tanner is a good idea either. It's loaded with synthetic chemicals that aren't good for your skin.
Reply:the sun does not cause skin cancer!!!!! Sun lotion does. think about it! that is in the book natrual cures they don't want you to know about!

just use the sun. a tanning bed seems unnatrual.
Reply:the sun, if you have to choose. But the thing is that you can still do just as much damage out in the sun b/c it's likely you're going to spend more time in it to get the same results from a bed. Do you think skin cancer is worth it?? You do realize skin cancer can kill, right?
Reply:well tanning outside is supposed to be the one thats better for you but tanning beds get you a tan faster and it gets darker too...so really its up to you
Reply:If by better, you mean less harmful to your skin, then tanning by the sun is best, because the synthetic rays from a tanning booth are much more harmful, and the strength of radiation has been proven to be a factor in some cases of skin cancer. The sun gives your skin the opprotunity for your skin to soak up D vitamins. One statistic shows that thirty minutes in a tanning bed can equal up to eight hours of the suns harmful rays. Be careful! You don't want to get sun burnt! If you have somewhat fair skin, reconsider tanning, cancer from over exposure from the sun or tanning booths is not worth it.
Reply:The sun is better for you, in limited exposure of course! Tanning beds are just intense concentrations of UVB light that can be very harmful to your skin. The increased amounts can destroy elastins in your skin and make your skin look older than you are!

Not to mention, the sun also provides a vitamin our bodies need- vitamin D. So if you are going to tan, I would choose the sun! Just remember, either way, always in moderation!
Reply:It seems as though the natural approach would work better. Sun works to produce vitamin D for bones and is another source of vitamin, for what, I cannot think of.

The sun is also an anti-depressant.

I don't think tanning is bad in general, you know, otherwise we shouldn't go outside at all in the summer or go swimming or what have you.
Reply:I copied this from a website: if you are rarely exposed to the sun, you have a greater chance of acquiring some forms of cancer. Some have even found that people who do not receive regular sun exposure are more likely than others to develop malignant melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer).

i agree with that, so i dont think a light summer glow is bad.

But to answer your question I dont know which is worse what i do know is that my moms friends who do the whole tanning bed thing are a lot more wrinkly and shriveled up than my mom and my mans mom who only have a little tiny bit of sun damage and have both had lovely natural suntans all their lives. So I think the sun is better.

Yay! cause you be getting nice fesh air and swimming and getting a tan all at once
Reply:If you use the tanning beds or the sun, sure you'll get a good tan, but then you will start devoloping moles and it doesn't look good!! Spay on tans are good, and I've been hearing that lotion...dont know whats it called...but it make you glow and you look tan! My mom LOVES it
Reply:Depends: do you want skin cancer from a natural source or a man-made one?

Why are you insisting on tanning, even though you know it is a bad thing?
Reply:if you must tan, the sun, because tanning bads triple the amount ov UV/B rays..
Reply:I get my tan from spray tans or tanning short time indoors. Indoors your time and rays are controlled. The booth I go in has less then 1% UVB. I probley tan indoor two or three times a month to keep nice color. When I am outside not knowing my exposure I wear a high sunblock.

Are tanning salons the best?

if u go to the tanning salon a couple of times ( maybe once every couple months ) do u turn orange?
Are tanning salons the best?
No but you will get wrinkles, premature age spots and possibly skin cancer.
Are tanning salons the best?
No. No.
Reply:Tanning beds greatly increase your risk of skin cancer. Use sunless tanning lotions or sprays instead.
Reply:Not orange. But it does increase your chances of getting skin cancer. And when you are 40 you will look 50. Too bad, because I love to tan. But I don't do it.
Reply:noo. but i wouldn't recommend getting a spray tan if you want to stay completely natural.. If you're going away, get a base UV Free tan. it worked for me!
Reply:No.

And they're not healthy for your skin either.

Also the color depends on what kind of skin tone you have.

If I were you the safests way to tan is to go to a salon that spray tans.
Reply:no.
Reply:im not sure about the turnin orange part i think if u go way too often then yeah its possible but i think its best to get a natural tan cuz it looks way better and besides if u get a tan from a tanning salon ur just wasting money wen u could go to the beach or the park or sumthing
Reply:You don't turn orange you just get more tan. But tanning is not so great for your skin, I would only go once a year if I was you. But I'm not so do what you want.

-kadie
Reply:I have a lot of friends who go tanning on a regular basis and after a while it does put a wear on your skin, ya know and if you can tan naturally I don't see why you would want to spend the money on it, like most people I know tan because they say they'll burn in the sun so they have to build up a 'base tan'??? I dunno all I'm saying is that if you can do without it, do without it.
Reply:I would never go to one, they're dangerous/unhealthy.

Reply:I don't know if you turn orange or not, but tanning salons aren't good for you. But I can't prove that, so I have to say that You look good, you don't need any type of enhancement to 'look better'. You are fine, and God created you exactly how he wants you to look
Reply:No, you won't turn orange like those chemicals you put on your skin to help you look like you've tanned. Here are some thoughts I have about tanning whether in tanning booths or outside tanning in the sun. It doesn't matter which method you use for tanning as long as you do it in moderation. Many people use the tanning booth during times of the year when the weather is colder outside. With the tanning booth you can look nice and tanned year round. It's very easy to tan too much so one has to be careful. Too much tanning will make your skin wrinkle prematurely in life. Everybody is saying tanning is not good for you and causes cancer but this fact is overstated. During the 60's and 70's when tanning was so popular people stayed out in the sun too long not knowing the damages of over exposure. Studies indicated UV rays were causing our bodies harm so now everyone wants to say stay out of the sun and wear sun blockers. In recent years the UV rays have become stronger so more caution needs to be observed. While true, moderate tanning can do the body good and elevate ones mood. The key is to wear some sun block and limit your exposure to the sun especially during the strongest time of the day when UV rays are at their strongest. With the tanning booth you can control conditions no matter the time of the day.
Reply:Never go to a tanning salon!!!! Be glad with your body color. I'm really white but i'd rather be white than have skin cancer.
Reply:The best thing to do is just get a spray tan instead of lying down in a solarium.U can get them done professionally or your self start of lightly then work your tan up but make sure it doesn't look fake or unnatural
Reply:DON'T GO!! In college I went on a month long tanning binge. Now I have skin cancer.

Some people go all the time and nothing ever happens (besides having fake looking skin and wrinkles when they get older)

But everyone is different and it's not worth the risk.
Reply:No way then you would see a lot of orange people running around...hahaha

Is it bad if i use tanning lotion?

i want to get tan but i hate staying outside for a long time getting tan. is it okay if i use tanning lotion?
Is it bad if i use tanning lotion?
Maybe you can put the lotion and have a lamp or something like that by you and use that instead of the sun and staying outside.
Is it bad if i use tanning lotion?
yea yea it is thts the best way to get a tan... tanning lotion. but sunless tanning lotion is so dumb and it looks so fake
Reply:sure is....
Reply:yea, thats better because if u stay out in the sun all the time then u can get cancer...not good

What鈥檚 the best sun bathing/tanning method?

Yeah, it鈥檚 kind of late in the year for it, but I was just wondering what is the best way to tan outside of those tanning salons. I think it鈥檚 rather impractical to go to a salon when there鈥檚 plenty of sunshine on your back porch, but I digress. What kind of sun block, sun screen, or tanning lotion should you use? I鈥檝e heard you should flip over every 5 minutes or so, is that true? How long do you stay in the sun, 45 minutes? I鈥檓 just totally clueless!
What鈥檚 the best sun bathing/tanning method?
I lay out on one side for around 10 minutes and then flip. Take breaks occasionally so that you don't get overheated. Put just a little bit of sunscreen on so you don't get painful burns but still get a tan. Overall time in the sun should probably be around 30 minutes if you are just laying there. If you are doing an actitivty or something, however long you want!
What鈥檚 the best sun bathing/tanning method?
go for jogs at the beach shirtless and high shorts. low self esteem? just run, you woking on your figure so what?
Reply:short spurts every day is the best.. if you can do that. getting burnt is no good. so you wanna be out in the sun for about 25 mins a day.
Reply:Someone at work uses the Neutrogena sunless tanning products and it really does look natural. It's a subtle process that gradually looks darker in the skin. She uses it and 2 weeks later, it looks like a gradually darkening tan, as if she was outdoors all weekend...

If you want some others, I've included a link. The Neutrogena products are also listed.

Do you wear any clothes when tanning...I'm going next week and am not sure if I want to or not?
Well, if you don't want tan lines, go nude, that's what I do. Make sure to put more lotion on, though, because your skin starts to dry out a bit.
Reply:hmm...yeah...I'm gonna have to have you keep all of your clothes on, yeah...in fact wear some thick full body pjs and a hooded cap or a bag...yeah and I'm going to need you to do this until you can decide for your self.
Reply:If you have never been tanning I would wear something down there! You wouldn't want it to burn! Ouch! Wear boxer briefs or just cover up with a small towel. Don't wear a shirt or anything else.
Reply:well no tan lines are the sexiest.

I like it when a guy is tanned all over it makes me tingle when I see his sexy bronze.
Reply:yes go nude but be careful with the sensitive parts ya know you can use sun screen on Mr wiggle
Reply:if you don't want tan lines then go nude, and no i don't wear clothes when tanning. just do what you feel comfortable in.
Reply:don't go tanningggg

use the sun if you want a tan

Are tanning and tattoos a bad mix?

can tanning alot ruin ur tat?
Are tanning and tattoos a bad mix?
Yes. Your tattoo will fade drastically.
Are tanning and tattoos a bad mix?
It can make it fade, be sure to put sunscreen over them if you are going to tan or be in the sun.
Reply:It will fade your tattoo, yes...but if you go to certain tanning salons, they have things you stick on where your tattoo is and it covers it while you tan.
Reply:Oh yeah, for one, it will fade. But it will alot dry it out and possibly burn it. Think of it as an open would. It's way more sensitive to light and you don't want to cook your new piece of art, right?
Reply:Yes but I don't like tats much anyway but if you do then bye all means take the appropriate action before going sunning

I have a tanning booth question....?

If you use tanning beds or booths, do you wear a swimsuit, or do you just go "Au'Natural" to avoid tan lines?
I have a tanning booth question....?
All natural is the definite way to go!!! you don't get tan lines but if you do wear a swimsuit it looks more natural and gives it a I sat in the sun effect.

GOOD LUCK
I have a tanning booth question....?
When I did go, I used to go topless. I couldn't go totally nude. I don't know why, just couldn't. Now I use the spray booths and I still won't go bottomless. ;)
Reply:Depends on what you want to go home with?
Reply:Depends do u want tan lines or not?
Reply:It's up to you, if you want a full body tan then all you will need on is your birthday suit, but if you dont want to be cought like a deer in the headlights if someone walks in then wear somthing to cover up the ole' package.
Reply:i myseld go nateral to avoid tan lines.

just be careful becuase if you do not put sunscreen on your but you tend to burn since its really light compared to the rest of the body since it stays hidden.
Reply:don't wear long shorts or swim trunks because u don't want anybody to see your ugly tan lines. maybe wear a speedo or nothing at all.
Reply:all natural!!!
Reply:it really doesn't matter its how you feel.i go natural after all no tan line looks better and natural. plus there's no cameras
Reply:I haven't gone in a long time, but when I did I used the tanning bed and I didn't wear anything but a little playboy bunny sticker on my hip bone
Reply:I work at a tanning salon %26amp; most people go w/o anything. If you don't feel comfortable, then wear a swim suit %26amp; just use sunless tanning lotion to fill in the lines.
Reply:you can go naked but atleast put something on.
Reply:I don't like tan lines....so, au'natural for me! ;0)
Reply:tanlines aren't very attractive so go "Au'Natural" ;)
Reply:you should just wear boxers or regular shorts..but i wouldnt go tanning..its healthier to just get a tan by going to the beach or getting sprayed
Reply:you usually wear a swimsuit but i've heard of some places you can go nude if you have ur own u can go naked but personally i won't use tanning beds they can give you skin cancer

Will tanning help my Rosacea and Psoriasis?

I have a mild case of both psoriasis and rosacea..will tanning help it not flare up as much?
Will tanning help my Rosacea and Psoriasis?
Very careful sun exposure can help psoriasis, but may make the rosacea worse. My psoriasis improved with about 20 minutes of sun exposure daily, but I had to use a hat to shade my face due to rosacea

I have now switched to using Enbrel (injections I give myself once a week) and am very happy with it. My psoriasis is 90% gone. It is such a major relief!!!!!
Will tanning help my Rosacea and Psoriasis?
No. The one has nothing to do with the other. Rosacea is due to blood flooding your surface blood vessels. Psoriasis has to do with skin shedding. And tanning has to do with damaging your skin in order to cause your body to produce melanin. If anything tanning will make it worse because it damages skin and makes it less able to heal itself.
Reply:Unlikely....and you may get skin cancer, as well as other unsightly spots (sun spots, for instance....which are usually associated w/older people, but I got one in the past year and I'm 25). Anyway, any benefits of tanning are miniscule compared to the damage.
Reply:No. Try drinking eight 8oz glasses of water, eating balanced meals. Stay away from too much sugar and white bread.
Reply:UV light (in moderation) will most likely help psoriasis.

I may also suggest the anti-psoriasis herbal cream from Champori.com : it works better than anything else for my plaque psor.

Self tanning lotion...?

i use natural glow self tanning iv'e used it for a couple of days and my hands are starting to turn orange and i cant see a difference in my color am i doing something wrong?!?!?
Self tanning lotion...?
try exfoliating before you use the tanner to get rid of the dead skin a sugar exfoliate works best. Wash hands after you use the tanner and if u still have some coloring on your palms then try lemon juice and salt to remove the color.
Self tanning lotion...?
I used Jergens Natural Glow and never had that problem. It really turned my skin a nice glowing tan color, but I didn't have it on my hands. Maybe you aren't rubbing it into your skin enough? I would try to wash your hands afterwards. It will take a few days to really see results.

Why is it that when i do go tanning in a bed .........?

i come out looking overly dark like some one who lives in florida if i go 10- 15 minute sessions every day for 1 week

but if I go every other day for 1 week My skin acts as if i never went ?

also when i use tanning lotions , i never tan come out red but the effect last just for that day then goes away when i hop in the shower...?

I also will take advise on tips to make tanning easier , more fullfield , I just want a better tan ... let me know if ya go anything ( advise ) that is ...
Why is it that when i do go tanning in a bed .........?
fake it! MUCH SAFER AND BETTER. st tropez spray tan at the salon is perfect, if not use tan towels for a great even colour
Why is it that when i do go tanning in a bed .........?
i`m the same way, because my complection is very fair...that`s why i end up going every day, because i don`t like being so white %26amp; pasty!!! have u tried using any of the tingle lotions? that`s really the only thing i can use that will get me super-dark...i recommend "hot tottie" by pro tan...also, make sure u are using a moisturizing lotion after u shower, because hydrated skin tans better %26amp; keeps color longer...
Reply:I go to a tanning bed everyday. I am kinda pretty hard to tan. You look dark when you come out but when you take a shower, It usually takes a day or two to actually tell the results. The tanning lotions you use, If you are comming out red, then you need to use a lotion that tans not burns. If you go to a tanning salon, Ask the woman that works in there whats the best lotion for you. If you tan at home...Where ever you buy your lotions at, Read the bottles or ask for help. I never get red because I don't use tanning lotion. But if you want very good results, Use a tanning lotion that has accelerator in it. It gives you better results and a beautiful tan. Also, Whenever you lay out in the sun or at a tanning salon, When you take a shower or bath, Use the lotion called " Dove Energy Glow ". I use it and the results are exellent. It has a subtle self tanner but it says with you and isnt orange or anything. I could go on and on about tanning cuz it's something i love to do. Any questions email me @ cutiebooty523@yahoo.com. I hoped I've helped.
Reply:The reason you probably feel you dont tan yet turn red when you use lotion maybe because of the color in the lotion ( if it has a bronzer) hence it coming off in the shower.

I've also learned that some of it is just in your head. Somedays I look at my skin and think that I am pasty white then I stand next to one of my friends and I look like I just got back from a summer in Mexico.

Like the first gal said moisturizing is VERY important. It'll keep your skin much happier especially if you're tanning everyday. I've also found it important to exfoliate once a week or so. It keeps your skin super soft a pretty also helping to get rid of dead skin that will block the rays

Good luck!
Reply:I am a tanning adict and I know what you mean...try the lowest bed they have for 20 min. every day for a week or so until you get a nice base tan, then use the different beds. dont take a shower until 2 hours after you have tanned. and right when you get out put lotion on..I use baby lotion. dont get fooled in to buying the after tanning expensive lotions...a waste.I use outdoor tanning lotion indoor. I just dont tell them. Also when there is about 5-8 min. left in the 20 min. tan, i flip over. try different tanning places too. find coupons in the back of the phone book where they have like one week of free tanning, stuff like that so while your "trying out" thier beds, its free.
Reply:all im sayin is that you shouldnt tan so much because that can make u get skin cancer
Reply:well i was going tanning 3 times a week using an accelerator in a level 2 tanning bed and i got very tan then i started going in a stand up cause my chest wasnt tanning but anyways try going in a higher level bed and go every other day like mondays wed and fridays for likr 10 mins it should work that what i did then when u get used to it start going for more time like 12 mins then 14 mins good luck
Reply:Stop waisting your money on unsatisfactory tanning. I suggest Avon's Satin Glow Airbrush Spray. It has a conditioning mist that delivers instantly soft skin with a natural, even glow that develops gradually. Or Satin Glow Daily Body Moisturizer - softens skin as the color enhancer gradually brings out a natural, healthy glow. Try Satin Glow Smoothing Body Wash - moisturizing lather with softening exfoliators prepares your skin for even, long lasting color. You can control the amount of color you get. All on sale. 100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back! Best way to tan now-a-days. Excessive exposure to the harmful rays omitted from the sun and tanning lamps can be hazardous to your health and skin.

Reply:We are tanned naturally and are brown in india. I am actually fair but if I go even for half an hour in the sun I become brown. It is because of the melanin concentration which is more in me than with my father, mother or my brothers. It is only for me. So some genetic factors are the reason behind this.

Fair-skinned, wanting tanning advice?

I'm of irish/german decent with really fair skin. I'm heading to the beach for a weekend trip in about two weeks and want to come away with some color OTHER than Lobster Red.

Any advice on:

Pre-tanning prodecures to help?

Tanning lotions/oils that do the trick?

Best SPF to get, and how often to apply?

Any other things you know that work......

Thanks!!!
Fair-skinned, wanting tanning advice?
Unfortunately with your ancestry you don't stand a good chance. Keep the spf high, near the 40 to 50 range. Many researchers are saying that it is worse to go to a tanning bed because the doses of radiation are so concentrated. If you reapply the sunscrean every few hours you might be able to get a little bit of tan, but be ready for a burn first (it just goes with the skin tone). You can get moisturizers that will tint your skin %26amp; that will even help with later tanning a little.
Fair-skinned, wanting tanning advice?
THE BEST WAY TO DO IT IS TO GO TO A TANNING PLACE AND THEY WILL HELP YOU GET A BASE TAN WITHOUT BURNING YOURSELF IT WILL ONLY TAKE A WEEK OR SO AFTER THAT JUST GET LIKE A LOWER SPF LOTION AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE
Reply:Don't bother pre-tanning. Get the highest SPF lotion. Consumer Reports rated Neutrogena brand the best. Reapply every few hours or more frequently when swimming. The best way to avoid a burn is to stay out of the sun during the peak hours by getting inside or using a beach umbrella.
Reply:if you are as nice looking as your avatar, you don't need a tan.
Reply:Get a couple sessions at an indoor tanning salon that will help build you a base tan. Once you are at the beach wear sunblock (water proof SPF with UVA and UVB block) and do not forget to reapply it since you will be in and out of water. Have fun!
Reply:I'm in the same boat as you, and you should just face the music. Unless you want skin cancer, don't bother trying to get tan. I'm not saying to hide from the sun or anything, but you aren't going to get as tan as you really want without doing serious damage to your skin that you will regret later. Remember: fair skin ages much much better.
Reply:Tanning at the beach is cancer on the sand. Grease yourself with plenty of sunscreen and apply it frequently.

Go home every night and apply a self-tanner. Most of them are pretty good. Bath and Body works has a scented one. Loreal has some good ones....both the tanning cloths and the spray work well. You'll come back bronze and healthy tan-looking but without the skin damage.

Follow the directions on the label, though. Moisturize dry areas like elbows, knees, backs of your ankle, etc, so more tanner doesn't soak into those areas and look darker. The stuff now is so good that it's pretty hard to mess it up.

YOu can even start 'tanning' tonight. Have fun on your weekend trip!
Reply:I'm Irish German and Russian..beat that!

I started tanning a few years ago. You start out in a low level bed for a short amount of time. Gradually you can go up and you will start to see color.

Of course everything should be done in moderation..new research suggests that people fear tanning and the sun so much that we are getting sick from decreased levels of vitamin D. Don't over do it! and be watchful of your skin.

As for pre-tanning procedures

- Moisturize! You don't need a tanning salons expensive lotions.

Jergens works fine!

After tanning

- DRINK A BOTTLE OF WATER, tanning dehydrates you.
Reply:I'm the same as you. I've learned that I just don't really tan, and if I try, I burn. It's a losing battle. So I'd say just slather on the SPF 500 this weekend, and get some fake tanning spray or lotion. Don't risk skin cancer just to get what will be a burn :(

Will a few times at the tanning bed damage my skin?

I have VERY pale skin. I take really good care of it and never try to tan. However, I am going to be going to the Carribean to meet my bf's family and I want to look good. I don't think a fake tan will last for two weeks. Will a few times at the tanning bed mess up my skin?
Will a few times at the tanning bed damage my skin?
if your family has a history of skin cancer it would be most wise to stay away. because it makes you more likely for skin cancer.

also tanning can cause wrinkling (ew) and brown spots.

ummm but if you dont do it regularly it's not really any worse than just spending a few hours in the sun...

if you buy an accelorator or other lotion please get one with out bronzer. the bronzer is what makes everyones skin look so orange.
Will a few times at the tanning bed damage my skin?
The UV rays could damage your skin when you get older and you could get skin cancer. Tanning Beds are no different than going out in the sun, except if your in a tanning bed for like 10 minutes that equals around 2 hours in the sun.
Reply:make sure you apply alot of sunblock before you go into the tanning beds because the tanning beds can also cause skin cancer especially for you because your skin is VERY pale according to you. just becareful not to do it TOO much.

good luck.
Reply:Yes. You're exposed to very concentrated amounts of UV rays in a tanning bed. It's way worse than just sitting out in the sun. I don't know if I'd do it ... especially since you say you never try to tan. Your skin is likely more sensitive to the sun.
Reply:sure, the UV rays will damage your skin cells. However this occurs as a result of long term exposure so few tans won't really have that much of a negative impact.
Reply:Yes it will. Why don't you just go to the Caribbean and get a tan. I'm sure they will like you for who you are. I don't understand why girls feel they need a tan in order to be accepted.
Reply:Yes a tanning bed can and will damage your skin. Its a dose of concentrated UV rays (and often times they aren't properly sanitized... eww!)

A fake tan can last as long as two weeks if you exfoliate before you get the spray tan, and moisturize your skin daily.

I work at a day spa that recommends making appointments for spray tanning about 10days to two weeks apart.

Also, a spray tan would only need to last until you started to tan naturally, being in the Carribean that shouldn't take that long.

(But being pale is nothing to be ashamed of... generally your skin will look youthful for alot longer than people who spend time in the sun)

I have never done tanning beds before but am thinking about giving it a try. However, I have rosacea and I'm worried about the UV rays worsening it. Does anyone know for sure?
Does tanning effect rosacea?
You might instead consider those tanning places that spray on instead of a tanning bed.

I used one before a vacation trip and it looked good! I had a coupon for a few free sessions and was pleased. It fades in a few days, and be sure you are wearing something old when done (the stuff leaves a stain on clothes which comes out in the wash). It takes 12 hours or so to set, too.

I don't know where you are, but there are a number of places like this in Texas.
Does tanning effect rosacea?
My mom has bad rosacea on her face and legs.

After tanning very gradually, she experienced clearing of her skin. She ended up having a better tan than me.

Many rosacea medicines warn to avoid the sun while taking it. So be careful to not take any of these medicines that might make you burn. Report It

Does tanning to much make you throw up?!?

my mother just started tanning and now she is throwing up what is going on?
Does tanning to much make you throw up?!?
Has she tanned more than once in a day? The throwing up might be from rotting meat. If you tan too much, it can literally "cook" the inside of you. Get her to a doctor now to make sure this is not the problem. It could also have to do with a reaction to the rays in the tanning beds. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Also the cooking can basically only happen in the tanning beds, outside tanning is alright, but not too much. She may just have a stomach bug.
Does tanning to much make you throw up?!?
it could be heat exhaustion, dehydration, but its most likely sun stroke
Reply:well, when you tan, it affects your skin.... i shouldn't think it would make you throw up... HOWEVER, if your mother is not drinking a lot of fluids, she could be suffering from dehydration which is caused by overheating and not enough water in your body.

she could also be very sensitive to sun and her body uniquely reacts to it's harmful rays in this way!

either way though, make sure she's drinking lots of water to make up for whatever fluids she may lose from the heat of the tanning beds.
Reply:No. SUN POISONING will make you retch.
Reply:When your in the sun to long, especially tanning beds, it is so easy to get dehydrated, try drinking gateorade!
Reply:you can be sick with to much i was puking for a week
Reply:tanning beds are bad news.. they make you old before your time.. they can kill if over used.. it fries your insides.. then you die.. bummer eh.. maybe she should see a dr.. 2 be sure she is ok..

Self-tanning?

What is a good brand of "self-tanning" lotion? I need one that shows quick results and does not show the smudge and finger lines. Thanks.
Self-tanning?
I prefer Jergen's Natural Glow! I read somewhere I think Cosmopolitan. They rated it the best self-tanner

I also like Neutrogena Build-a-Tan. But then again, my sister used it and it turned her orange!

Dove works for her..but it turned my skin all blotchy.

So I don't know.. i guess it really just depends on your skin type bc it varies from person to person! But, i would recommend Jergens.
Self-tanning?
DOVE
Reply:I like L'oreal tanning wipes. As long as you are thorough they never show lines or smudges.
Reply:I like Neutrogena applied with a damp sponge to avoid streaks or getting it on your hands, I've been using it for years. I didn't know L'oreal had wipes though, that's cool.
Reply:http://www.famousdavestanner.com/

Works REALLY fast and doesn't turn you orange.
Reply:I really love the tan towelettes, Loreal makes some, I have only tried the ones on QVC, but I am sure they are comparable. You can use one towellette for your whole body.
Reply:i use the jergens natural glow and the dove energy glow lotions. they dont make me orange, and have kept my summer glow all fall!!
Reply:dove is good , But i would recomend, you go for one of these spraytans ! This goes on even and won't make you look orange . and looks very nice
Reply:The best thing you can do is invest the $20 in a mistic tan. It goes on very evenly and doesn't come out looking orange. It starts working immediately, but you have to take a shower after about 30-45 minutes or it will get too dark.
Reply:The best way to get a fake tan is to go get a mystic tan at a tanning salon. It is only around $20.00 or less and it stays on for like 2 weeks. It is a booth you walk into and it sprays the tanning solution all over your body, so there are no streaks, no orange spots, and no unevenness. Good luck.
Reply:Funny, I was just talking with my sister who was going on about how much she loves the Jergens self tanning stuff. She said it doesn't make you really dark, just a warm healthy glow. She lives in Alaska, so this is great for her.
Reply:jergens has been the only brand that i've tried that does not leave tell-tale marks when you miss a spot....it blends in easily (like a moisturizer) and the tan builds gradually the more you use it, so you can control the shade
Reply:Go to a tanning store and all you have to do is tan twice in the highest booth. If you have a Hollywood Tans near you, I recommend going there! And use their dark sensation lotion!!

In a spray tanning booth, can you choose how dark you want to be or is it just the same standard for everyone?

Plus to go with the question how dark or light is the actual tan (this is only relevant if there is only one set standard to the booth). I only want answers about the spray tanning BOOTHS and nothing else thanks.
In a spray tanning booth, can you choose how dark you want to be or is it just the same standard for everyone?
Yes, self-tanners do come in various darknesses. There are some tanning booths which offer different chemical tanners for light or medium-dark. You just have to shop around. You can always go twice, two days in a row to build yourself up darker if you can't find a multiple choice tanning booth.
In a spray tanning booth, can you choose how dark you want to be or is it just the same standard for everyone?
yah. don't they have like cards with different shades to show you or something
Reply:When i was watching Sunset Tan they made some guy look really really tan, so i think you can choose how tan you want to be.
Reply:you have to go a few times. The first time it will be quite light.
Reply:usually they have like 1-3 different types of shades, just depends where you go.
Reply:u can choose based on the strength number from the lightest to the darkest
Reply:its the same for everyone.....you turn ORANGE
Reply:you can choose, im pretty sure it depends on how much of the spray you get and the consistency. talk to the people at the tanning place about it, they'll know.
Reply:all tans are different strength so you tell the person who has set it up for you of what strength of colour you want
Reply:Yes you can adjust it somewhat - but not a lot. The problem with everyone I have known that has used one is they come out looking a very strange tone ( sort of orangish) and it looks really fake. Also it fades away withing about 3-5 days. I am not sure it is really worth the money.
Reply:I did it once before I went to the beach. I didn't have a choice of how dark or light. I think if you want darker you probably need to go back a few times. I liked it, just make sure you begin spreading it as soon as the spray stops and get it as even as you can. Make sure you wash your hands after or they will be orange. Good luck.
Reply:mystics tans use levels (1-3) and if its ur first time or ur natually pale then go for the level 1 which is the lightest...the guy messed up when i got it done the first time and put me in for the darkest one...i was black and it looked so horribly fake because i was light one day then super dark the next..plus it was all spotty and streaky...not good. my friend got the lightest one done and u couldnt even tell she had gotten it and she has naturally red hair and blue eyes so shes very light skinned..tell the technician at the salon how dark ud like to be and they wil lset it appropriatly...beware..it smells afterwards :(
Reply:Some spray booth just have one standard color. A lot of the newer booths can you at least two choices. Most adjust to your skin tone to give you a nice healty tan.
Reply:i would think that they would let you choose

What products help to quicken the tanning process when sitting out in the sun?

I want to get a natural tan, but I always burn. So I always wear suntan lotion but that seems to always fight the sun from helping with the tanning process. Are there any products that help you tan?
What products help to quicken the tanning process when sitting out in the sun?
If you burn then do NOT use baby oil, or any type of non-SPF lotion. Oily lotions will magnify the suns rays and cause even more severe burns. My tip for you is start off laying in the sun for a small amount of time and increase the time you are in the sun each day. Once you are tan it's hard to burn in the sun. Try decreasing your SPF amount each day too. When you think you are tan enough to use tanning lotion outside you can go to a tanning salon and they always have good lotions to use outside. I worked at a tanning salon last year and I know alot of people who came to buy the indoor lotion for outside, and it works great!
What products help to quicken the tanning process when sitting out in the sun?
baby oil
Reply:Try a suntan lotion with a lower SPF or one of those combos bug spray with sunscreen. As I'm sure you know you should always use SPF protection. That's the best I can tell you, unless you go for the lotion tans...the Jergen's is pretty good...totally worth the $5.
Reply:Tan accelerators for the non experienced tanner.I use EURO-TAN it gives you a beautiful glow and your tan looks natural can be used outdoors or in tan beds
Reply:the drug stores now carry a pill that you can take to speed up the process, however be careful of staying in the sun to long,it is no longer healthy to sun bath.
Reply:The cancer bed -- oh yeah i mean tanning bed. Sorry I get those confused sometimes.
Reply:i've heard of olive oil, but i'd imagine you'd get really hot

Reply:try using a fake tan for your trip!!!!
Reply:if you're naturally tanned and you've gone pale, it might be something you wanna talk to your doctor about? Either way, tanning isn't a good idea in my opinion, bad for your skin, bad in general
Reply:girl chill with all those products soon you wont ahve a face to apply them. All those stuff are damaging to your skin. Work with what u got!
Reply:I use jergans self tanning lotion.. it has a self tanner that goes from light to dark.. i use it for about a week and I tell all my friends to use it when they ask how i got so tan
Reply:if you can, lay out in the sun with a light sunblock on your face.

fake isn't always the answer but if laying in the sun doesn't work after a week, go to the tanning salon for a light tan.

Spray tanniNG ITS MY FIRST TIMEEE/?

ha im wondering if spray tanning gives you wrinkles or doea it harm your skin in any wayyyyyy because its just sparayyy idk lol and around how much does it cost??
Spray tanniNG ITS MY FIRST TIMEEE/?
I would not recommend it, here in Florida you can get a tan for free,.
Spray tanniNG ITS MY FIRST TIMEEE/?
ummm....it will just turn u orange soo well i dont know try something else.
Reply:It all depends on what type of sunless application you choose. If you choose something like the Mystic Tan or Magic Tan you will be fine, you will not have streakiness, white blotches, or turn orange. The reason why people tend to turn orange is they go way too dark with the solution too fast. Since it is your first time try the lowest level for just a gradual increase in color. Also you want to prepare your skin right. Just before you go to have the spray you want to exfoliate with a rag or loofa and scrub your body every nook and cranny. Pay special attention to your elbows, knees, and the dry areas of your body.

No spray tanning does not give you wrinkles or harm your skin, if you do the two I listed above the majority of the solution is Aloe vera so you will find your skin is really smooth and soft.

Your sprays tans can range anywhere from $20-$35 depending where you are located.
Reply:it is fine - and UNLIKE the real sun, it does not give you wrinkles or harm your skin!

the only problem is that it doesn't last long, only 4-5 days.

How do you get an even tan when you are laying in a tanning bed?

I only get darker from my waist down but I want to be darker on my face and my arms. What should I do or what can I use in a tanning bed to get an even tan?
How do you get an even tan when you are laying in a tanning bed?
Depends on if you tan at home or in a salon. But either way talk to someone at a salon to see which product works the best. Usually the lotions at the salon are the best. Whomever you talk to will help you. Plus use a good moisturizer but wait an hour or two before applying. Something about waiting makes your tan hold.
How do you get an even tan when you are laying in a tanning bed?
Back when I used tanning beds, I always got darkest on my stomach...couldn't figure that one out. But can I give you a little advice with the tanning beds and tanning in general? Quit while you're ahead. I used tanning beds for over 10 years and back in '05, I had my first go round with melanoma. If you don't know what that is, try looking it up on webmd or just googling it.

Home tanning????

whats the name for a home tanning thing, its for your face, i need the name so i can buy one, any one got any idea??
Home tanning????
I don't know if you mean like a cream/gel self tan or a tanning lamp. If you mean the latter, I wouldn't recommend it as they have the same ageing and damaging effects as the sun does. Go for a good quality self tan like lancome or clarins for the face - much kinder and you'll thank yourself in twenty years.

Home tanning????
I think what you're talking about is a facial solarium by Phillips. You can get them in Argos.
Reply:Yeah, not sure if you mean self tanning creams or a home tanning bed. If you mean creams, there are some decent ones out there that won't leave you "orange". I like Jergens. Start with a light color and gradually go darker. Also, you can mix some tanner with regular lotion in your palm before applying it so help make sure you don't get a heavy coat of tanner and end up with streaks. Just get it all rubbed in good! It sounds like a lot of work, but putting on lotion is good for you anyway, it rubs away cellulite, massages your muscles, and helps you stretch!
Reply:your talking about a tanning lamp forget it, will damage your skin and increase the chances of skin cancer

opt for fake bake or st tropez this way it can be an all over tan not just your face, you can make it to the tone that you want with adding moisturiser to make it lighter

Sunless tanning lotion that doesn't smell bad?

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced sunless tanning lotion that doesn't make you smell horrid? I have tried Netrogena and Coppertone products, but after a few hours, I always smell soooo bad from the chemicals...
Sunless tanning lotion that doesn't smell bad?
jegens body glow it is flippin awsome
Sunless tanning lotion that doesn't smell bad?
Jergen's Natural Glow
Reply:Hernz's 100 % "natural" Olive Sunbath Oil
Reply:Johnsons Holiday Skin Body Lotion. You put it on just like any other body lotion, it tans evenly overnight, has a very light smell similar to freesias which disappears when the lotion is absorbed then leaves your skin really soft. I must have tried every fake tan over the years and this is the first I've found that really does what it claims to. (They should pay me for writing this!)

Any ways of tanning faster? (not sprays or anything?)?

so i was just wondering if there are any like oils or at home "remedy" things i guess you could say, for tanning faster, like if you put a special lotion or sumthin on, and go out n lay around in your swimsuit, would you tan any faster? HELP!!!! thank you!!
Any ways of tanning faster? (not sprays or anything?)?
It's really bad but you can use baby oil and lay out. It will make you burn really quick but it gets the job done.
Any ways of tanning faster? (not sprays or anything?)?
i know it sounds weird, but crisco does wonders.

Reply:Put on shorts and a tank and get out and do some yard work, walk around on the beach, anything of the sort. Tanning bed, whatever floats your boat. Nothing gives off a better tan like the sun itself. Lasts longer to.

Is it safe to use sun tanning lotion for stretch marks?

Someone once said that a trick to get rid of stretch marks was to use sun-tanning lotion. I have a felling that as an african -american, this might actually work. Is it safe to try it, I'm going to try on a small area to test. Do these products have bad effects on african american skin. Know any products that can tan, but not too dark of a tan? what about bronzers? please help.
Is it safe to use sun tanning lotion for stretch marks?
what they say works in the sun tan lotion is the cocoa butter.. it has an effect to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. i never had any luck with it as my prego belly still looks like a new jersey road map, but maybe you will..lol!

good luck!
Is it safe to use sun tanning lotion for stretch marks?
It won't hurt you but it won't work !! Try vitamin E gel it won't get rid of all of them but it helps to fade the marks or you could get some coco butter and rub that on them !!
Reply:it won't make the stretchmarks dissappear, it will only make them less noticeable. You can try.

Can u go tanning after getting a tattoo??

I have to be in a bathing suit in a few weeks, so planned on tanning, but Im planning on getting a tattoo in about a week. Can I continue to tan after getting the tattoo?
Can u go tanning after getting a tattoo??
I would recommend against it, seriously. Minimally, wait at least a month before going out. The skin is healing and won't give the normal protection from UV. The upper, dead epidermis will still be getting replaced, and the non-shedding areas in the dermis %26amp; lower will have greater exposure.

This hardly means you'll get a melanoma from this specific action, but it's all additive and this will increase chances.

And yes, a little sun once won't kill a tattoo, but repeated tannings will. How do you think all those grizzled old sailors got their anchors blurred? If you want to have any ugly old blurry tattoo as quickly as possible, lots of tanning is definitely the way to go.

Addendum: To clarify, the layer of skin you normally shed over time is thinner while healing, meaning more carcinogenic UV B can penetrate to skin layers that do not shed and are, in fact, permanent. It's fine to trash the skin you'll shed - it's going away. Do not damage the skin below that. It's with you to stay.
Can u go tanning after getting a tattoo??
tan now then get the tattoo so if you burn youll have time to heal because you dont want to burn with a new tattoo and your not suspored to be out in the sun or soak for a month after.
Reply:yep! it might fade a bit quicker than without tanning.. but its not going to ruin your tattoo, i tan super fast in the sun and sometimes go to tanning beds, but my tattoo is still there lol
Reply:youll want to wait about two weeks after getting the tattoo to start tanning again, its not the best idea, but as long as you put sun block on it the tattoo should be fine
Reply:tan and then get a tat, if you tan with it it will lighten it up, and look really cheap, if you want to you can just cover it up while you tan, just don't leave it exposed or it ill ruin it
Reply:no why pay the money to ruin it.
Reply:seriously, if you want to tan, why get a tattoo...

it helps fade the ink so much quicker.

also, even if the tatt looks great on your pale skin, it might not look so good on tan skin
Reply:No, but you can Mystic tan! The spray tanning is way better for your skin anyway. Tan before you get the tattoo.

I need some tanning help?

i went to a tanning bed for the first time today, i really enjoyed the experience and have nothing bad to say, the lady said that for the first time i should only go in for 8 minutes, so i know your not going to see results right away but i want a nice tan and soon, whens the soonest i should go again?
I need some tanning help?
I would reccomend going every other day. That's what i reccomend to people wanting to build up a base tan. After you achieved your level of darkness, go once to twice a week to maintain it.

Remember to moisturize!
I need some tanning help?
if youre a girl dont go again and use natural glow lotion..it works but if youre a guy then i dunno sorry
Reply:you can go whenever you want really, but i wouldnt recommend going to day after. because its really bad for your skin, so you could go in about 1 day or so

Sunless tanning question?

In your opinion what is the best sunless tanning product out there. i dont want to be orange and i dont want to have streaks!

i'm pale as a ghost and i need some help!
Sunless tanning question?
hehe, I'm pale myself, but i keep up a pretty nice glow thanks to self tanners. this article has good reviews on a range of tanners, from cheap to somewhat pricey. this talks about orange-ness and also streakiness- both are things nobody wants!

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article...
Sunless tanning question?
there isn't any product that will make you magically tan, but there are products that will give you a sunkissed look. Use bronzer, I used to ue it but then I realized I'm happy with my pale face, an I already have rosey cheeks so why ruin it right? Anyway if you use bronzer use a little bit not like a glomp, maybe like 4 drops?
Reply:so the best product out there is definetly Dove Energy Glow Body Wash. the wash alone gave me a gorgeous summer glow..if you are looking for a hard core tan add the lotion from Dove it all works great and it doesnt make u orange, it makes u bronze (yay bronze!)
Reply:OK I'm really pale too! My doctor says just stay out in the sun and go out in tune with your iPod ( if you have one! ) Worked for me i got a lil' tan
Reply:I'm also really pale too, and even the sunless tanners in the fairest shades were too dark for me. Then I bough Banana Boat SunDial %26amp; it was perfect! It has a bunch of different shades that you can choose from, and you can go darker each day, just by twisting the dial. It is more expensive, but it's worth it for me because it doesn't leave me streaky! Hope this helps =)
Reply:I found that you need to find a product that contains Aloe Vera as it will go down to the lower levels of your skin where the new skin is generated %26amp; help with your colour; no streaking or tango-effect!
Reply:The new mystic spray on tan is great. I just tried the new one at Hollywood Tans and I loved it!

Why is it that when i do go tanning in a bed .........?

i come out looking overly dark like some one who lives in florida if i go 10- 15 minute sessions every day for 1 week

but if I go every other day for 1 week My skin acts as if i never went ?

also when i use tanning lotions , i never tan and I come out red but the effect last just for that day then goes away when i hop in the shower...?

I also will take advise on tips to make tanning easier , more fullfield , I just want a better tan ... let me know if ya go anything ( advise ) that is ...
Why is it that when i do go tanning in a bed .........?
Go to the beach.. Screw that fake n' bake
Why is it that when i do go tanning in a bed .........?
use a tingle lotion, just be happy you can tan. some people only burn, take a radio with you a,it makes the time go faster
Reply:yer gonna be one of those orange peel people aren't u
Reply:it might be the bulbs in the bed..do you use the same bed everyitme? also gotta make sure you use lotion at night after tanning or you won't get a good tan.
Reply:I don't know about you, but I go every other day and it looks good. I also use tan lotion and that seems to help. You have to actually go in the sun outside as well to get better color.
Reply:there are different tanning lotions out there. The person who works there can help you out the best as they SHOULD know the different kinds. The ones that wash off in the shower have a bronzer in them and that's why you look so tan immediately or for a day or so until you shower. The best way to get a tan is to first use a level 1, then a 2 then a 3 (three's have tingle factor which feels like a burning sensation on your skin or an extreme cooling feeling) You should use step three when your skin is ready to use it, you'll know because you have a base tan that won't tan any further unless you up it a notch. Also using higher wattage beds once a week or month will give a good boost and don't forget to use hydrating lotion afterwards you don't want to look leathery..i find bath %26amp; body works does the best.
Reply:My advice - go to the beach!

I live in Australia though, ten minutes in our sun and you'll be a nice shade of brown. Unless of course you're pale and you'll probably just burn.

Nothin beats the real thing!! Cept I guess having a tan comes with its prices - cancer and ageing sooner than wanted!

Can u still go to the tanning booth and not get skin cancer?(age 20)(once a week)?

Since I am used to the sun cause I just lived in sunny countries my whole life..( mum is from southamerican()...I get quite depressed when its winte and therefore go to the tanning booth (that's one reason)once a week ...I already have a brown tan ...since I tanned before in the countries I lived in(in the real sun) ..(africa,southamerica) ..so is there still a high risk for me to get skin cancer ...I really would like to continue going (once a week) but since I know that it causes skin cancer..I am not sure anymore...
Can u still go to the tanning booth and not get skin cancer?(age 20)(once a week)?
Using a solarium for even a small amount of time can drastically increase your chances of developing skin cancer. Solariums emit ultraviolet (UV) radiation that is up to five times as strong as the midday sun.

The simple fact is that the more your skin is exposed to UV radiation the greater your risk of skin cancer 鈥?no matter what skin type you have.

Solariums use artificial UVA and UVB radiation, and both are known to be directly responsible for causing skin cancer and prematurely ageing your skin.

Using a solarium is not a safe way to tan. A solarium tan will not protect your skin against skin cancer. In fact, using a solarium can result in serious damage to your skin. This is a known fact.

If you want to read a bit more about the dangers associated with solariums, checkout the following links;
Can u still go to the tanning booth and not get skin cancer?(age 20)(once a week)?
so long as you dont over do it theres little risk- particularly for you - as have genes from your mother protecting you from uvl

to a certain degree
Reply:If you are going to a tanning booth to improve your mood, I would suggest looking into purchasing a light box for light therapy. These are specifically designed for people whose mood is affected by the weather and they do not expose you to UV light, so they do not increase your risk of skin cancer.

A 22 yr old girl died recently from going to them and tanning at the beach all the time! She only had 10 visits at a solarium and got melanoma. They can be even more harmful than the sun! If I were you I would consider to not go to one anymore. Perhaps use tanning gels or creams to keep your tan going. Remember when you are older you don't want to be all wrinkley! But most of all , you don't want to die young from cancer just because of keeping a tan which is so not important! take care
Reply:What Lib said is correct.

A girl in her early 20's, here in Australia died recently from skin cancer bought on from tanning in a Solarium.

She spent her last weeks campaigning so that others would be aware of why she was dying so young.

What shocked me most about this case was that the girl concerned had naturally darker skin anyway. Why put yourself at risk like that when you don't "need" a tan?

Please don't take the risk too.

Please.don't.

Will tanning skin help to cover up stretch marks ???

a friend of mine has old stretch marks on her hips and upper arm. she has tried many creams but it didnt help..may i know if tanning will help or is there any other good creams?
Will tanning skin help to cover up stretch marks ???
Tanning skin will definitely not help as the marks will still be seen..It can just darken the skin.....Ask a proffessional dermatologist for a creme....

Stretch marks are the same as scars, they won't cover at all.

The more tan you have, the more they show through.

Would it be weird if went tanning?

Lol. I'm half Kenyan and Filipina, and I was wondering what you think the people at the tanning salons would think if I went in there to get a quick tan?

I got really dark over the summer from being out in the sun a lot. And I like this complexion that I have. I am normally lighter in the winter, so what if I wanted to keep a darker cpomplexion and went tanning occasionally, is that weird?

I'm so serious too.

Thanks much!
Would it be weird if went tanning?
No. Alot of people of color go tanning. I go tanning sometimes because it helps with uneven skin tone and strech marks. I also use a bronzer to help even skin tone.
Would it be weird if went tanning?
no its not wierd. you should go tanning. its perfectly normal.!!
Reply:no i dont think its weird. banana boat makes this after sun lotion that makes our tan last longer. aslo jergens makes this lotion that makes your skin tanner, my sister uses it and it really works and it doesnt make you look orange. hope i helped.
Reply:No I don't think it would be weird if you went tanning in the winter a lot of you darker skin white girls still do it. My husband is Hawaiian and I Love the way he looks at the end of summer!! But this year he had a cast on his arm so its all light. I have seen light skinned African Americans girls go to the tanning beds because they want to get a little darker so I don't see why you could not do the same. Sorry for any spelling and grammar errors.
Reply:no if your naturally tan and prefer a darker complexion than its not a big deal you dont need to explain to the tanning people they work for YOU.
Reply:You already have a tanned color, dont go waste all your skin health to get a little bit more darker.

UV rays are really a killer, read on them.
Reply:its not weird at all hun, if you want to top up your tan then go do it, its perfectly normal !
Reply:go for it girlfriend i bet you are gonna look great. good luck and have a nice time

How to start tanning?

I am an almost 16 year old guy, i am really white. i've never tanned before and that's what i want for my birthday. What do i do in order to prepare and what do i do when i start tanning?
How to start tanning?
just put on sunscreen ad spend time in the sun, you will tan faster without sunscreen, but it is not a true tan, and it is bad for you. if you want to have a real tan wear sunscreen, it will take longer but it is healthier and you will look tan, not just brown and burnt!
How to start tanning?
just stay out of the tanning beds and fake tanning solutions or else you will wind up looking like and orange paris hilton and when you get older you will have crows legs alot sooner. I agree with the doc.......use sunscreen
Reply:It could be a lot easier if you just go to a t anning booth! i reccomand "ONE HOT TAN" and all you do is sign up for 2 months of tanning for 30$ and you buy a good lotion for about 35$-50$ and you start out at the lowest itme and go EVERY DAY and within about a week or two you will look like a beach bunny!!!!! i used to get fake tanns a lot so it looks really good knowing from exprience

hope i helped:)
Reply:tanning is REALLY bad for you, it can lead to skin cancer and than you will wish you were white(:

well i recommend a neutrogena build-a-tan lotion. It gradually gives you a tan look, and unlike the spray on tans it won't make you orange. It will look natural and it will be healthier for your skin.

Quick and Dark Tanning Lotions?

I want a lotion that will get me dark and tan quick, I want to be so dark that I just about look black, but I don't want to lay in the tanning bed that much, just because it causes skin cancer and makes you look older, so I don't want to have to lay ever single day. I don't want something that will streak me and I don't want a tingle. Thank You for your imput.

Quick and Dark Tanning Lotions?
No one can tell me not to use my Jergens:) I love it and it comes in different shades.
Quick and Dark Tanning Lotions?
Try Neutragenas dark or deep tanning spray. Its wonderful.

Also the spray booths are awesome. But don't let them talk u into the fair...i do the dark and it looks fantastic if u dry off correctly. Lightly pat from feet up! I got REALLY dark that way before my cruise a few weeks ago. But again...they are very leary on letting u do the dark. But if u are an experienced self tanner u will no the correct way to dry off and prevent streaks. The only area I had problems with streaks were my heels. So I made sure to get them the other times and gooped the lotion on them that they give you.

Is tanning sexy on a guy?

Just curious if you girls find a man that goes tanning to be more or less attractive with darker skin?
Is tanning sexy on a guy?
I like my guy tanned. I don't like him pasty
Is tanning sexy on a guy?
I like darker skin but that is my preference
Reply:As long as he doesn't talk about it. I'm fine with it ;)
Reply:only if its natural. but i think that goes for everyone- no one looks good orange.

there is something very sexy about a tan line peeking by the hips though.
Reply:i don't really like the fake n bake look on guys.

but if they naturally have darker skin or are tan from being outdoors, then i'm okay with that.
Reply:i love a guy who has a nice tan i don't really like a guy who is pasty and looks so white they look like the dead.. it is sexy on a man but as long as your not always talking about going tanning then that makes you sound a little gay but a tan on a guy is sexy
Reply:A fake tan doesn't look attractive on any guy.

A suntan makes all the difference, though.

Where to buy tanning stickers besides the tanning salon?

you know those stickers they sell at the tanning salon? well where else can i buy them? and is there a difference between both of them or can i just use normal one's?
Where to buy tanning stickers besides the tanning salon?
any sticker will do. and you will probably be able to find some funky shapes that you wouldnt find in a beauty supply store.
Where to buy tanning stickers besides the tanning salon?
You can buy tanning stickers as almost any beauty supply store- try Sally's- at a tanning salon, or you could buy one online. I know ebay has them there, as well. There really isn't much of a difference and you'd be just as fine buying them anywhere else then spending more money at a salon.

Hope I've helped!

Self Tanning Gun?

Okay, so I bought this self tanning gun at Sally's Beauty Supplies. And it says on the box that it really works, and that it's one of those "As Seen On TV" products. It's called SalonBronze. I have fair skin, and I wanna use it specially for my face, I am underage, so I can't just go to the MysticTan Salons by myself. Thanks in advance.
Self Tanning Gun?
I bought that item just before my engagement pictures because i have very fair skin. Just beware it says it wont leave streaks but it does if you dont have the perfect touch at spraying. Make sure you have someone help you spray it on, because no way will you be able to do it evenly. Also it leaves little beads of color on your skin especially on arms and wherever you have little hairs so make sure you have a cotton ball or something like that to dab it in, dont rub or else it will streak.. Hope this helps :o) Good Luck!
Self Tanning Gun?
what is your question?
Reply:I love to use the cream,,,, it's easy to apply and control.

Use hand cream first to create a blocker so your hands wont' absorb as much.

Remember not to put your clothes on for at least 15 minutes, and wait to shower minimum 4 hours.

How to remove tanning odor from buckskin?

Does anyone know of a good way to get the tanning smell off of your new leather. I just purchased a buckskin split, and it smells like formaldahyde. Aside from letting it air out, is there a faster way to reduce the smell of the tanning solution?? Thanks!
How to remove tanning odor from buckskin?
If it's light-colored, dust with bicarbonate of soda (that's *dry* baking soda) and brush off the excess the next day. It's a good general-use deodorant.

If it's dark-colored, hang it up with crumpled newspaper, also noted for "taking up" odors. Don't use printed newspaper with anything that could be damaged by newspaper ink. Sometimes the tag ends of rolls of newsprint paper can be purchased inexpensively or even begged from printers.

Privacy screen for tanning bed?

My friend just put a tanning bed in her garage. The only problem is that the garage has some windows. We are trying to make it seem more private since she will be letting other people use the bed as well. I mentioned putting up one of those free-standing privacy screens. Nothing too expensive, just something to put up so people can change behind it. That way people can come and go in the garage as needed but the tanner still has privacy. If you could please help me find out where to get one of them and how much it will cost I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Privacy screen for tanning bed?
If your friend has got enough imagination to get a tanning bed for herself and her friends, then it's only another small step to rig up a washing line and hang curtains or cloth from it. Your friend could make it a lovely recreational area with imaginative use of different fabrics, colours etc. And all quite inexpensively.

This website has a very inexpensive divider. it is a bit plain but you can spice it up. Cut out an border on the top... (just cut the felt and string a vine of fake flowersthrough it... You can get more creative with it this is just an idea!
Reply:I trust your friend will have adequate insurance to cover accidents and losses. Having one at home for personal use is fine but letting others use it can get a little sticky with insurance coverqage, city ordinances, licenses, inspections, health department etc.

Tell her to be careful or she may get some visits from the local authorities.

Fake tanning???

has any1 ever used 1 of the at home do it yourself tanning sprays???i am thinking about using it....i would prefer not to get skin cancer
Fake tanning???
I have, big mistake!!! I had to darken pretty much over night for a dance tournament, so me and my mom used this spray tanning on me, and I had patches and dark spots. Also, my hands turned orange. I looked ok where I needed it to looks ok, but the rest looked horrible. I don't recomend the at home tanning sprays as they are uneven. I also went on the tanning bed, for two weeks, and I didn't go every day, i went every other day for ten minutes, and that actually looked normal, not orange or patchy. But honestly, when its warm out, tan then, otherwise, do the tanning bed for occasions, like the two or three weeks before the event, that way yours skin will be even, and will look like a tan, not an obvious fake...
Fake tanning???
i honestly dont recommend them. they look fake, orange and streaky.

try going to a sray-on tanning booth. or just go out in the sun. it wont kill you, its natural
Reply:it might look good for a day or 2...but you might get spots...and blotches
Reply:DO NOT USE FAKE TANNER!!!! ok so the first day it actually looks good, but after that ur skin turns orange and blotchy and all ur friends notice.....(personal experience)

just go sit in the sun for like 20 minutes with sunscreen, its way better and u wont get cancer from 20 minutes

Is tanning bad?

Is going to a tanning bed consinstently bad or are people overreacting?
Is tanning bad?
YES!! IT IS BAD! if you are using a tanning bed consistently then please stop.it's the worst way to tan. the UVA rays from sunbeds are 2-3 times more powerful from those from the sun.it severely damages your skin and kills millions of people through skin cancer every year in the US and that is only one place! if you tan through tanbeds you will be cooking yourself like a turkey in a stove and putting yourself in an early grave..is it really worth it?? i think we all know the answer to that question.
Is tanning bad?
bad cause i heard it can cause cancer or whatever but i would never go 2 one
Reply:yes...after a while u can get skin cancer...its no joke...i think there was an article on it in the june or july august on it in teen vogue...u should read it. getting a natural tan in the summer by spending about 20 to 30 minutes in the sun is the better way to go.
Reply:You mean does it cause premature aging, skin cancer, and horrible cases of 'over-baked'?

Yes.
Reply:It is bad. It CAN cause skin cancer. It WILL give you premature wrinkles.

Will tanning ruin a new tattoo?

I have been told to stay out of the sun with a brand new tattoo, but i was wondering if tanning would have any effect on a new tattoo.
Will tanning ruin a new tattoo?
YES. ANy kind of UV exposure can have an adverse effect on your skin....Wait until it is fully healed to go back in the sun or a tanning bed and make sure you put on a high quality SUNBLOCK. Do not apply sunblock while the tattoo is healing, it can overmoisturize your skin or make the ink look blotchy. The tattoo is under your skin, and your tan will form above it. If you get too dark, some colors may not show up as brightly as they could. Over time, excessive exposure to sunlight will cause your tattoo to fade no matter what colors are used.

Just wait until after it's healed, what's two weeks?
Will tanning ruin a new tattoo?
do you mean tanning with a spray on tan? you must always protect your tattoo from the sun regardless if it's new or not....it will keep it from fading as fast....if the skin is still broken i suggest covering it with something before you put some nasty chemicals on it..
Reply:yes, all uv light that is shining on can cause it to take longer to heal, and also cause the colors to fade on the tattoo.
Reply:tanning would actually be worse than the sun for your new tattoo. it will cause fading very quickly.
Reply:fake baking is worse than the natural sunlight so yes
Reply:just put sun block on it and you'll be fine
Reply:Exposure to UV light (sunlight and tanning beds) is bad for tattoos. When in sunlight you should use a good sunscreen on your inkwork. Sunlight fades tattoos at a slower rate than tanning beds. Tanning beds pretty much "bake" you with a weeks worth of UV light in one short session, so they can cause tattoos to fade faster than just daily exposure to sunlight.
Reply:Too much sunlight is bad for your tattoos, old or new.

Think about it like this:

Tanning is bad for your skin, your tattoos are a part of your skin, ipso facto tanning is bad for your tattoos.
Reply:yup,yes,absolutely.

What's the final answer on tanning salon safety?

I am very fair skinned and burn easily (even through sunblock spf 50)...Tanning salons tout being a safe alternative to the sun but #1 are they safe? and #2 can they work on someone who just doesn't tan? and #3 can you suggest any good self tanning products?
What's the final answer on tanning salon safety?
Tanning salons aren't a safe alternative to the sun at all actually. They use UVA and UVB rays just like the sun and at more concentrated levels. 5 mins in a booth is = 30 mins in the sun. You're really not missing out on the risk of skin cancer and I don't think they are allowed to advertise themselves as safe any longer.

If you're fair skinned, tanning in a booth for a few minutes at a time and working your way up to a gradual tan is a way to prevent burning, but some people who try this method either burn badly even after a few minutes, or just don't show any color at all. It's hard to judge until you try, but both results will leave you disappointed.

Self tanning is a good way to go because it's safe and you can control your results. Having someone there to help you with the application is key. They also have self tanning booths at some salons. They're the UV free tanning booths. They pick the right tone for you and the self tanner is applied by the machine via a mist. Some people I know have had good luck with it, but it's expensive.
What's the final answer on tanning salon safety?
If you have never tanned outside then you probally wont tan indoors. If you are set on the look of a tan then there are amny fake tan options ie, Mystic, Airbrush, and self tanning lotions from local store. Each time you burn you increase your odds of cancer. The purpose of indoor tanning is to avoid burning and tanning gradually.

Which tanning bed should i go in and how long should i stay. hurry?

im 12 and i been to to the tanning bed thrusday and i was a really strong one and i got burned. so should i go in a weaker one? or the one i was in lastime? and how long? im leaving in 1 hour so hurry.
Which tanning bed should i go in and how long should i stay. hurry?
it depends on how long you stay in it, I am 13 and I have a Sunvision tanning bed in my house.

you need to build up to a longer time, but start out small

how long did you lay in it?
Which tanning bed should i go in and how long should i stay. hurry?
take a look at the link below. 12 is too young to tan, I have no doubt about that. I am not positive about other states, but in NY you need parents permission under the age of 18. skin cancer is a serious thing, if I were you I would highly reconsider the idea to tan.
Reply:you should get a stronger one, stay in for a year and youll look like a loaf of wheat bread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:You're only 12, what are you going tanning for?? Do you know how bad it is for you?? Not to mention that fake tans look horrible if you overbake yourself.
Reply:There is no such thing as a "safe" tan. Do not use tanning beds, period. Do not go out into the sun without using a SPF 15 or higher sunblock. No, I'm not a weirdo. My dad died at 33 from malignant melanoma from too many sunburns when he was a kid. Now I have to have every single mole biopsied and removed. Yeah, that's really fun.

Besides, now there are so many ways to get artificial tans (check out Magic Tan - which professional weight lifters use) that can give you the tan without harming your skin at all. And, you'll avoid premature wrinkling of your skin.
Reply:Tanning is dangerous. Be happy with the color you are. Getting skin cancer would really suck.

Do you put tanning lotion on the whiter part of your arms?

I want the tan to look natural but i've never used tanning lotion before. Do I put it on the whiter part of my arms if I want it to look natural.
Do you put tanning lotion on the whiter part of your arms?
put it everywhere, it will blend in and look natural if you do it right. DO NOT glob it on like you would with lotion, a little goes a long way.
Do you put tanning lotion on the whiter part of your arms?
You should use it on parts of the exposed body. It's more important to protect yourself from skin cancer.
Reply:Yes, put it everywhere. The lighter parts of your body will likely still stay a bit lighter than the rest.
Reply:yeah
Reply:no u will have carrote or orange color hands, dont use it to tan the inside of ur hands cause it will not give that same result as on ur legs or face ect...

Self-Tanning Gel, Help?!?

I have this Loreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gelee and hear it works for alot of people, but just wondering if you have to do something before putting it on because last time it didnt work?
Self-Tanning Gel, Help?!?
EXFOLIATE! Take a loofa or a wash rag with some exfoliator products that have gentle beads in them...the self tanner sits on the outer layer of the skin. When you exfoliate you will show the fresh new skin and the self tanner will develop and will last a bit longer and also ensure it being even. Watch your products you use, if you use a product with mineral oil in it then try to put a self tanner on the mineral oil forms a barrier and ti wont allow the tanning product to be absorbed which could be why it did not work before. Leave it on prior to showering for about 4-6 hours, then when you shower try not to use anything abrasive whcih would speed up the skins natural exfoliation process.

L-Tyrosine for tanning?

I heard that by taking L-Tyrosine daily, it will improve the appearance of my skin, and darken it. Is this true? A friend of mine told me she uses it before she goes tanning, and it helps her tan darker and faster. But I'm not sure what I should believe.
L-Tyrosine for tanning?
tell your friend to stop tanning. When people go tanning, they are cooking their skin which achieves the darker temporary effects. Its more harm than good, so My suggestion as a skin cancer survivor is to use one of those new self tanner lotions. you can keep a healthy glow all year and save money from tanning salons, plus the lotions are very innexpensive. Love your natural self.
L-Tyrosine for tanning?
Most Definatly!! L-Tyrosine = More "melenon Pigments" in your skin. Google " L-tyrosine and Tanning"
Reply:i dont know about that. but i am a tan freak for indoor tanning. i know secret website that saves you 50% on tanning, my tanning salon charges $100 for some of these lotions and this site is awesome and cheap, it might have what ou are tlaking aobut for cheaper, i dont now cause i only bought lotions

Sunless tanning?

now that its winter time, im becoming kind of pale.. would like to get some color back. i dont want to do the tanning beds, or the spray on stuff. what is the best at-home method? what brands of lotions do you recommend? any other tips? i dont want to turn orange.....
Sunless tanning?
I use loreal sublime glow and jergens natural glow. you can buy either of them at wal-mart. they come in light, medium, and dark.

they build a gradual tan over a few days instead of getting something drastic over a few hours.

you can use it just like regular lotion, and apply it every day or every few days depending on the depth of tan you want.

I've never gotten that orange color that some fake tanners give either.

I think you'll like it!
Sunless tanning?
neutrogena build a tan Kelly Ripa is said to use Jergens some sort of lotion with self tanner---I saw it on t.v. a while ago. apparently when she announced that was what she used stores started selling out
Reply:I use the lotions that have the color in it...I think its by Dove. Anyway it subtly colors your skin so after two weeks of use you've 'tanned' it looks natural and gives your skin a nice glow.
Reply:neatrogena has loads of creams that will gradullay build a natural looking tan. and it lasts a long time.

Is it bad if you go to the tanning bed ?

I would like to go to the tanning bed . just 2 - 3 times a week every other day . I don't want to tan my face just my body . I have gotten lighter , %26amp; i'm going home to spain %26amp; i want to get a little tan... are tanning beds really bad for your skin ? is it worst than the sun it self ? Pls let me asap !! Ty
Is it bad if you go to the tanning bed ?
YES! It's speeds up the aging process, you'll find people who use the sunbeds on a regular basis end up with wrinkles when they are fairly young. I would suggest getting a good spray tan, and using a sensible SPF while in the sun!
Is it bad if you go to the tanning bed ?
yeah if you turn orange
Reply:its 10 times worst than the actual sun! you're way more likely to get skin cancer! if you have sunny days go outside and get a tan... if not get spray tan at a drugstore or get it professionally done
Reply:Warning: tanning is addictive. If you're really out to be a sparce tanner, 2-3 times a week is way too often, especially if you persist this habit throughout a year. Go once or twice a week for a month, then 1 time every two weeks should be sufficient to maintain a nice tan.

tanning is awful for your skin. premature wrinkeling is sure to follow and skin cancer might as well. One good thing about tanning is that is helps your body produce vitamin d and can also help people with seasonal despression.
Reply:You shouldn't go on tanning beds too much :(

Even though it seems tempting if you have fair skin, the damage it could do to you is a lot more important. I read an article about this woman who was pleading with people not to use sunbeds, because she ended up with skin cancer. 2 - 3 times a week is quite a lot, considering your skin is exposed to the sun a lot anyway. It's not worse than the sun itself, i don't think, but it's more concentrated because you're in one place and have no shade.

Love the skin you're in, a lot of people think pale skin is nice :)

I'm sure you'll get a tan on holiday anyway!
Reply:just like anything else, if you abuse it yes your skin will suffer. Make sure you moisturize real well after words, and dont let them stuff you in there along time until you do have a base back.
Reply:It is potentially harmful, but when you see the old, wrinkled, orange skinned people, they have probably been tanning for years. I'm 13 and I do tan, because I'm anemic and it causes me to be a bit pale. I don't do it everyday. The workers told me to start out going tanning every other day and once you get you're desired tan, cut back and only start going once or twice a week. It works, because I have a subtle color and I don't have to worry about being orange or anything. But, make sure you consult the workers about which bronzer works best for you. Some should only be used for people who have tanned for years and they can burn a beginners skin. The best of luck! Have fun in Spain.
Reply:I would suggest using a self tanner or getting yourself a spray tan. While getting some sun is healthy for your skin, using tanning beds or excessive tanning is very harmful to your skin.

Unlike the sun, tanning beds mainly omit UVA rays, that while have less risk of getting a burn, cause deeper penetrating damage to the skin. Most recent evidence links UVA rays to malignant melanoma which is the most deadly form of skin cancer. Exposure to any UV rays can cause skin damage and loss of skin elasticity (which keeps skin looking fresh and young). While these side effects mainly do not become visible for many years, the damage to your skin is irreversible. UV rays are basically radiation... Just saying that sounds bad. Personally I try to stay away from tanning beds, and living on an island (Key West) I go through a lot of sunscreen. My thoughts, I feel that it is better to save my skin and keep it healthy now, and reap the benefits when I am older.

Have a wonderful trip home to Spain and I hope that I helped you..
Reply:there good if u don't abuse them. 2-3 times is fine but not every week. always use a sunbed cream %26amp; moisturise after. dont belive every thing they say in the salon they just want your money. you know your own skin if it feel too much leave off 4 a few days.
Reply:Well, I go tanning as well, but the bad effects are, in a nutshell: it will age your skin much faster (if you've ever been told "you'll look like leather", that can happen to older sun worshippers, very dried out and wrinkly skin with lots of sun spots), you're at a higher risk for skin cancer which can be fatal so keep a CLOSE check on any moles and if any change shape or color - go see a doctor. They're worse than the sun because they have much stronger UVB and UVA rays directed at you in close range in order for you to tan faster.

However, I still go tanning, I go purely when I need a base tan, before vacation, about 8 weeks in advance, or when I need a sunshine and color boost. With everything in life, moderation is key. So if you plan to go just for a short span 3 times a week, just for the purpose of being nice and tan on your holiday, go for it. But don't make it an everyday year-round habit, because then you put yourself at risk. overall, it's not going to give you skin cancer if you go just to get a base tan as a once-off, so enjoy! It is very drying to the skin as well so exfoliate the day before your first session and moisturize LOTS after each session.
Reply:Yes it's very bad esp. for you skin and body only 1 hour in a tanning bed= 6hours out in the real sun so yes it's very bad for you. If you do, do it just be very precautious about it
Reply:It's really bad for you. It can cause skin cancer and it ages you. You're better off just laying out in the sun with sunscreen on and that's even bad for you. Don't do it. I would feel awful if in a few years you were asking questions about whether or not a mull was cancerous or not.
Reply:nott a good idea!!
