Will tanning help with my hyperpigmentation?

Im a light skin mixed black girl. I have yellow undertones and when I get a cut scratch or pimple, that spot turns brown. So I have brown spots on yellow skin. I cant do a whole body bleach and the spot treatments are annoying, I cant always reach them on my back.

I was thinking that Maybe I could go tanning and my dark spots wouldnt show because the skin around them would be dark too, so it would blend. Is this logical thinking? Outdoors cant you give you even sunlight but the tannign bed does a pretty good job. should i try it out?

even if u were to get tan i believe ur pigmentation will still show..tho not obvious n this is not a permanant measure as by tanning u r further damaging ur skin n allow more pigmentation to show on ur skin 10 years down the road! because the rays will trigger more melanin production .. not only that u will be allowing wrinkles to creep onto ur skin even tanning beds can be harmful as its really intense.. my advise is to accept n embrace it.. i am one with hyperpigmentation too .. its not that bad seriously.. acne n pimple scars r more awful!

I don't believe so. Your hyperpigmentation is caused by lack of melanin. If you don't have melanin, you can't tan.

I would go to a dermatologist and see if s/he can help. Otherwise I think your options are limited to cosmetics that cover the condition.

Reply:Hyperpigmentation is caused by too much melanin HYPOpigmentation is lack of melanin. If you tan, the hyperpigmented darker areas will become porportionally darker to the surrounding skin, maybe even darker b/c tanning increased melanin - that is what causes us to tan. African American, Latinos, and Asians are prone to hyperpigmentation since these ethic groups have more melanin to begin with. Tey a cream with hydroquinone and spot apply to lighten the dark areas. You can find over the counter creams in the drugstore or prescription strength from your doctor.
