What is the best tanning lotion to use with tanning bed?

I am in college and do not want to spend 60 some odd bucks on lotion i don't plan on using completely. Samples add up after 4 bucks a piece so what is good and cheap and can I get it other than a tanning place??? Im not interested in the tingle or w/ hemp stuff b/c well it didnt work last time i used it.
What is the best tanning lotion to use with tanning bed?
Im not sure if you have it there...but there is a place called sally's beauty supply ...it has like stuff for hair nails etc....they have good lotion for like 10 bucks....if you don't have a sally's im sure you have a store that sells like hair extensions, dye, curling irons, fingernail polish....it should be like in a shopping center
What is the best tanning lotion to use with tanning bed?
anything with out Hemp. The hemp will make you burn. I like things that have cooling agents in them. Then afterward there is this loction called Strawberry Kiss. It is the best lotion I have ever used. It smells so good too.

What do you wear tanning?

what do you wear tanning. i don't have my swimsuite yet. but i have a really old one piece. i might go spray tanning though do you wear the same things?
What do you wear tanning?
umm i do it naked ha ha or i wear underwear and a bra if i have no bikini
What do you wear tanning?
I wear nothing.. and I tan by nature..

I live on the beach so I just go out on my terrace and tan..

Good Luck...
Reply:i don't really tan. my skin is fair so i burn really easy...so i just use the Jergens tanning lotion. you put it on, and then in about a week you have a natural looking tan that is perfect for your skin tone.
Reply:nothing, if it isnt your normal swimsuit, it will cause major tanlines
Reply:i would not do the tanning lotion but if you don't have a swimming suit you could just ware sorts and a t shirt
Reply:Well i want to say dont spray tan yourself because you would get different color like you might miss a part so i dont suggest you spray on tand and if you go to a tanning bed wear a bra and a cute pair of underwear
Reply:i tan nude in the tanning bed, because i hate tan lines!!!
Reply:in a tanning bed. naked.

So should i use tanning lotion..?

so should i just use regular tanning lotion to get a tan in the sun?
So should i use tanning lotion..?
Try a tanning lotion with some SPF (like 8). You will still have a nice tan but you will have protection from the sun's harmful rays. Also, to keep it looking nice, you could use a sunless tanning lotion. After I lay out, I use the Loreal Sublime because it has a really nice natural-looking tone, it's not orange like some of those other kinds. It will make your tan last longer.
So should i use tanning lotion..?
well a tan in the sun is more natural but tanning lotion is safer. as long as you buy a good tanning lotion I would go with that. jergens tanning lotion is supposed to be one of the best. and if you do tan in the sun be sure to use sunscreen.
Reply:Use a lotion. It will not last as long, but it is far safer. The poster below is right. Jergans is a great self tanning lotion.
Reply:Do not get tanning lotion its a complete rip off last time i bougt tanning lotion the tan only lasted for 3 days. Tanning lotion can be costly cus you have to constantly keep reapplying it and reaplying it. The best way to get a tan is good old fasion sun. Trust me tanning lotins a complete rip off its ambarrasing because when the lotion begins to fade away you'll start to have white bloches on your skin because the ltions fading it looks totally stupid my freinds wher laughin at me.

All over rash from tanning lotion, what to do?

I think I may be having an allergic reaction. I tried a new tanning lotion today and as soon as I was done my arms and legs starting showing red bumps that burn, but don't neccessarily itch. I have never reacted to a tanning lotion before. What should I do? What is going on? I took a cold shower to try and rinse any excess off but I'm still burning. Help!
All over rash from tanning lotion, what to do?
It does sound like an allergic reaction. Did it have a high SPF and contain PABA? You might try Aveeno Hydrocortisone with aloe as a topical relief. You may wish to try Benadryl too, but be careful with it. It can make you sleep. Basically, it will take about 48 hours for the reaction to calm down. If it gets worse in the meantime, though, see your doctor.
All over rash from tanning lotion, what to do?
you really should see a doctor about it. Get your allergic reaction documented. Then report your reaction to the manufacturer of the product and the FDA they need to know this ..If it happened to you it could happen to someone else and could cause disastrous results, if that person is violently allergic to it.
Reply:Hmmmm, don't those bottles have a warning on them to immediately see a doctor if any irritation follows use? I guess if the symptoms keep up...

Looking for a self tanning lotion...?

Looking for a self tanning lotion...?
Jergens Natural Glow. It works great. Just remember to blend all the way in and go over ankles and feet. Oh yeah and make sure you wash your hand RIGHT after you finish and let your skin dry for 5 minutes before you get dressed.
Reply:mark by avon really dose work !

Has anyone ever went tanning for the first time and started to break out in hives?

I just started tanning last week and I am starting to think that I might have an alergic reaction to the tanning solution that I bought from the place. My whole body itches and if I itch to much the hives start to come. Has anyone else ever had this problem???? What did you do?
Has anyone ever went tanning for the first time and started to break out in hives?
Had the same...It was the cleaning spray.
Has anyone ever went tanning for the first time and started to break out in hives?
I would stop using the lotion and take a benadryl per the boxes instructions. Make sure you wipe down the bed before you get in. You may be allergic to the lotion or the cleaner they use on the bed.... more likely the lotion. You could be sensitive to this tingly stuff they put in the lotion too. I am very pale and have tanned many times in beds with and without lotion... I dont really see any positive results from the lotion so I never use it. I have used the lotions with "tingle" in them and my legs turned bright red! Just stop using it and see what happens.
Reply:i had the same problem. i went to see the Doctor and he says that some peoples skin cant take the UV lights so the body will react to it by itching or breaking out in hives. so i never went back tanning again i use the self tanning lotions and they work great
Reply:You could also be allergic to the spray that they use to clean the bed after each person. Ask them if you can spray the bed using a water bottle so you can get the cleaning solution off. I would see if the itching still continued after this while using your tanning lotion. If it still does, than stop using the lotion.
Reply:You could have Polymorphous light eruption, rash that occurs as a result of sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity).

Is it bad to tan in a tanning bed while your on your period?

i know tanning beds are not good for you but idc just give me a answer to my question
Is it bad to tan in a tanning bed while your on your period?
No, you'll be fine, I've done it before. Just not while you're heavy because it might leak through.
Is it bad to tan in a tanning bed while your on your period?
no. i do it all the time on my period. it doesnt matter
Reply:It isn't good for you no matter what, but not specifically at any time is it extra dangerous.
Reply:eh i guess its fine... no offense but i think that it is gross
Reply:yes it destriys vital tissue produced by tha paladious glands deep within tha skins tissue which help create tha proper chemichal wich produce necessary vaginal fluids !!!! what your doing is interupting your natural fertil cycle. this can also actually cause severe brain damage!!!!

What is the difference between indoor / outdoor tanning lotions?

I don't frequent tanning salons but I need to get a little color.

They try to sell me a tiny little capful of some "magic" lotion at the tanning salon and charge me $4.50. I'm curious: what is the difference between that stuff and my good ole coppertone?

I've read that the outdoor can ruin their beds, but if they want people to use indoor lotions only why don't they price it a little more reasonably? Personally, I could care less about their beds if they could care less about my wallet. Indoor tanning lotions are ridiculously overpriced.
What is the difference between indoor / outdoor tanning lotions?
i wish i could help you, but i was born with a tan...
What is the difference between indoor / outdoor tanning lotions?
you can't use outdoor lotions in tanning beds b/c the ingredients are hard on the acrylic in the bed. indoor tanning lotions can be used either place though, and help you tan alot faster. try the indoor lotion, it works great and you can find way cheaper prices online. just google the lotions your interested in, and please don't use outdoor lotion in the tanning bed

Can you build up an immunity to tanning?

I have naturually dark skin (eyes, hair, etc) or pigmentation, whatever you prefer........anyway I have never burned, even on trips to Mexico, Florida and California. I tan best in a tanner, but even then, I've never burnt.......do I have a high tolerance for tanning?
Can you build up an immunity to tanning?
My little sister never gets burned, either.

You may think you've never gotten burned, but theres more to sunburns then just red skin. You may have TONS of UVB ray sunspots hidden in your skin. Even though you've never gotten burned, you could still be getting skin cancer and other types of cancers that age your skin and give you moles, freckles, anything. Even though you have dark pigmentation and have never been burned WEAR SUNSCREEN because skin cancer is an ugly and sucky cancer.

There is no such thing as a tolerance to tanning. Tanning is, after all, just the sun -literally- cooking you.

Are there any lotions out that help prolong my tanning (indoor salon) for after I get out of the tanner?

My pre-tanning lotion is Swedish Beauty's Extreme Dare Tingle 10x (love it!) and I am an experienced tanner. I am looking for sometime of lotion that will help keep my tan looking fresh and my skin moisturized. Any suggestions?
Are there any lotions out that help prolong my tanning (indoor salon) for after I get out of the tanner?
at most tanning salons they sell lotions that prolong the tan. [make them last]

if not, google it, or go to a walgreens/ulta/sephora, and look for something of the sort. :]

almost any lotion is capable if used correctly!! :]
Are there any lotions out that help prolong my tanning (indoor salon) for after I get out of the tanner?
IT RUBS THE LOTION ON IT'S SKIN OR ELSE IT GETS THE HOSE AGAIN!!!!
Reply:try an after sun moisterizer in between tannings
Reply:I use the sunless tanning mosturizer.
Reply:I bought a mouisturising tanning lotion at walmart.
Reply:Swedish beauty also makes an after tan product called endless moisturizer
Reply:I use Hempz lotion...I use one with DHA in it and it gradually adds color to your skin and keeps it moisturized...they also make a normal one with out the DHA stuff but its a good moisturizer. I like the one with the DHA because if makes you even more tan after being in the tanning bed!

I have also tried one called Heiress it has a little bit of shimmer in it and it smells really really good and it brings out your color.
Reply:You might want to consider this line. You get a beautiful natural looking tan, you can enhance it and prolong it without mineral oil or tints.
Reply:I own a Tanning salon, I would suggest Designer Skin Lotions ,First of all they gaurentee a increase of 60% in your tanning potential they also started out as a vitamin manufacturer and put it in there products. They also will not streak or stain, They carry a after tan product called Angel they also have ritual both are great,We also carry Swedish Beauty they have a moistureizer endless summer.
Reply:Try Liquid Sunshine, Tan Enhancer. Not only will it prolong the appearance of your tan, but it will moisturize your skin like nothing else.

The company I purchase mine from allows you to receive a full 45- day, money-back, no questions asked guarantee.

Tanning prices vary. Some salons have special packages and some do not. In Alabama, I pay $52 for a full month. I've seen more expensive and I've seem cheaper.

My legs aren't tanning as fast as rest of me. Any suggestions?

I got a tanning bed a few weeks ago and i am getting good results but for some reason my legs just don't seem to be tanning as much as the rest of me. Can anybody help?
My legs aren't tanning as fast as rest of me. Any suggestions?
its probably because your shaving them sometime after tanning. Exfoliate and shave before you go tanning.
My legs aren't tanning as fast as rest of me. Any suggestions?
do not use taning oil on anything but your legs
Reply:this is good you should not tan it could give skin cancer and just because i sad could does not mean that it is never going to happen you have a good possibility!!!
Reply:Use carrot oil, cocoa butter or baby oil, these will encourage tanning.
Reply:I had exactly the same problem. I think its because the legs are not as exposed as the rest of the body. Be patience, it will happen!
Reply:Tanning accelerator on your legs only until they catch up with the rest of you.
Reply:When you tan lay a towel over the rest of you ( not your legs ) so your legs can catch up

Does it make sense to wear sunscreen in a tanning bed?

I was told by a friend that since indoor or outdoor tanning isn't good for you, you should use sunscreen with a high spf while tanning in a tanning bed. You will still get a tan while protecting your skin. Does that sound right?
Does it make sense to wear sunscreen in a tanning bed?
yes it does make since, the sunscreen will protect you from the harmful uv rays of indoor tanning as well as outdoor. You will still get a tan while blocking out most of the harmful rays.
Does it make sense to wear sunscreen in a tanning bed?
no
Reply:definitely not....what is the point of lying in a tanning bed with sunscreen on to get a tan...you would just have to expose yourself to much higher doses of UV radiation to get a result.

Excessive exposure to UV light IS DANGEROUS and the only safe tan would be a spray on wouldn't it?
Reply:well, using sunscreen would protect against the possible skin cancer idea, which can never be fun. do you trust this friend? or do they lie to you often or joke with you? if this is a person that always tells the truth then try it. The worst that could happen wearing spf is that you might not get the perfect darker tan you were aiming for. Also ask if this friend has tried it before and it has worked. If she hasn't tried it, how does she know its true? Dont accept anwers from her that go like this: " Well one of my other friends told me it worked really well..." You dont know that friend, or that they were telling the truth, so dont try it.

Hope it works out for you

Reply:the attendant is supposed to be monitoring so that no overexposure occurs
Reply:yes,
Reply:No it does not make since when you go tanning normally all you need is tanning lotion provided by the salon and that helps protect your skin because it has some sunscreens in it
Reply:No, I think tan isn't good for you. Have a sunscreen with a high spf will provide enough protection.

Does anyone know any tanning chemcials that's not inherently dangerous, but may be fatal in large quantities?

I know nothing at all about tanning. I want to know if there are any chemcials used in the tanning industries that's innocuous inherently, but may be dangerous in large quantities? (In leather tanneries)

For instnace, sleeping pills may be inerently harmless, but they're harmful if you take the entire bottle. Something on those lines?

Help, somebody!
Does anyone know any tanning chemcials that's not inherently dangerous, but may be fatal in large quantities?
#1 tanning chemical since ancient times - sodium chloride. That would meet your criteria. Brining the hides is one of the final steps to desiccate them and toughen then prior to framing.

Now if you want to remove the hair, you will need to consider some type of dilute caustic solution. Lye works well for this, an easy place to get that is quick lime at the construction supply store. Watch your step with quick lime, it generates A LOT of heat when you mix it with water and you risk both chemical and thermal burns. After your hide soaks for a week or so you have to scrape off the hair. Then you can wash it and brine it and frame it and oil it.

Nasty, stinky business tanning. I hope you don鈥檛 have any neighbors close by.
Does anyone know any tanning chemcials that's not inherently dangerous, but may be fatal in large quantities?
Everything is............
Reply:Tannins are used for tanning.

Vegetable tanning uses tannin, this is where the name tanning comes from.

Generally, tannins induce a negative response when consumed. These effects can be instantaneous like astrigency or a bitter or unpleasant taste or can have a delayed response related to antinutritional/toxic effects.

What are ways to avoid skin cancer when going to tanning beds?

Is there anyway to avoid skin cancer when going tanning to a tanning bed?

My legs are like extremelly pale and nothing works better for a tan then a tanning bed, I know this cause I've used it before and the tan is now faded out, but I really don't want to get skin cancer so what is a way to avoid while at the same time using it.
What are ways to avoid skin cancer when going to tanning beds?
There is NO way to avoid it...eventually.... except with great luck! UVA is UVA. Have you tried to use any of the new skin tanning products? They are great! and much much safer!
What are ways to avoid skin cancer when going to tanning beds?
use sunscreen and learn to accept your uniqueness.
Reply:Unfortunately, there is no way. Tanning beds expose you to high levels of UV, which causes skin cancer. Twenty minutes in a tanning bed is equivalent to two hours in the sun.

Does this mean you are certian to get skin cancer if you use a tanning bed? No. But it increases the risk.
Reply:Don't tan, it's bad for you.. You'll end up a wrinkly old prune when you're 40. My aunt tanned her *** off until she was black, now she's wrinkly while her sisters who didn't tan much are still young looking. Besides, tanning is overrated.
Reply:The same ways you can avoid transportation while driving a car or avoid gravity when you jump out a window. Though there are slight differences in response to UVA and UVB radiation, the bottom line is that tanning is unhealthy and always increases your cancer risk.
Reply:You can not avoid it. use lots of sunblock when you are outside. you know they have those spray things. they pretty much spray you. you get the look of a tan, but not the dangerous stuff. stay away from tanning beds
Reply:I dont think there is a sure way.And i use to go and got odd bumps on my inner legs that wont go away. The doctor didnt say if was skin cancer,However i ve had them 5 years now.I would stay out of them if i were you.

A: Dont use one.

Best lotion for indoor tanning?

I have tried indoor tanning lotions that you can buy from walmart, but they don't seem to help me get any darker. I always see these other girls who are really tan using these fancy lotions. What kind is the best to use?
Best lotion for indoor tanning?
crystal its at some tanning salons cant buy it at walmart or drug stores its little pricey but good i use it when i go have for 2 years
Best lotion for indoor tanning?
If you really want to get a good tan take a niacin supplement, only one, after tanning. It increases circulation to the skin. Try it before actually tanning to see how you react. It makes some people itch and tingle.

All of these lotions that make you tingle and increases circulation to the skin is achieved by Niacin. If you just buy the suppliment in pill form it 's 150% less expensive. Just use a standard lotion and take Niacin
Reply:Any John Abate product.
Reply:OMG buy EMERALD BAY. i only paid 10 dollars for it (online) and i was DARK in about 2 sessions! its a tingle lotion ( those fancy ones that turn your skin really red and tingle a lot) but dont worry - the redness is only temporary.

use emerald bay. you will LOVE IT. i guarantee it! :)
Reply:"skin so soft "- avon.com

i've tried many and they suck but this one actually works good %26amp; makes your skin super soft like it says just pick the right skin tone color.
Reply:It's true Niacin is the secret to indoor tanning. You can take more than one but you itch like mad. Same side effect you get from the tingle lotions.

Niacin is also believed to be good for your heart and skin too.
Reply:I wouldn't buy tanning lotion from walmart. Here's a website that sells expensive tanning lotion for cheap!

www.lewiestanning.com

I've never used the ones with the tingle stuff it it, I'm afraid, haha. But I usually use one's with bronzer.
Reply:I have been running a tanning salon for a very long time, and i can honestly say my 2 favorite products are spellbound by designer skin and black smoke by supre. spell bound will run you about 68 and smoke about 55 although you can purchase them online at a cheaper price. they are bronzers and tint your skin as any bronzer would it will get you darker faster. Do use a baby wipe aftre putting on because it will dye your palms since they have no pigment.

How do you get a nice even tan when you are laying in a tanning bed?

I can't seem to get darker on my arms or on my face, and that's where I want it most. I always get darker on my stomach and legs but not evenly. Is there anything to use when you laying in a tanning bed? Should you use baby oil for a deeper tan? What products do I need to use!? HELP!!
How do you get a nice even tan when you are laying in a tanning bed?
I offer two pieces of advice. Try using nothing for a few visits. I have done that in the past and that is what works for me. Every so often I will use a tingle and bronzer lotion like Austrailian Gold to give me that extra tingle and add a little bronzer, but go tan every day for like a week or two and that will make you get dark fast.
How do you get a nice even tan when you are laying in a tanning bed?
they should sell lotions at the place you tan at.

How hot can it get in california! Tanning bad?

It has been like 115 outside and I typically go tanning indoors and was worried about the extra sun exposure because it is so hot. Do you think it could harm me? OH also does anyone know if you aren't supposed to tan on birth control. I tan like once a week and have been for several months, but was wondering if the pill can effect that.
How hot can it get in california! Tanning bad?
You should be fine. Just don't tan everyday. Three times a week max whether you're indoors or outdoors. Antibiotics or other medications like BC can cause your skin to be more sensitive to your skin and redden, but it doesn't for me or you, so I guess we're okay : )
How hot can it get in california! Tanning bad?
sun is gud for u ina limited amount. i live in dubai and the temp goes to above 55 degree celcius. it gets hot but u can still catch ppl on the beach after 4pm. so the sun is gud for u but it will be better that u dont go in the sun from 12pm to 3pm thats dangerous. And the birth control pills dont effect nothing

I want to go tanning -- what are some things I should know?

It's my first time. I'm going to this tanning place with tanning beds. Can I take my iPod with me or something? How long is it anyway? I don't want to turn out orange. Any tips? What should I be in? A bathing suit or just underwear? Thanksss (;
I want to go tanning -- what are some things I should know?
Use suntan lotion and wear a skimpy bikini and something to disguise your identity just in case the perverted old man in the back has a recording device attached to the hidden cameras in each room! ;)
I want to go tanning -- what are some things I should know?
You really shouldn't go...it's not good for you, as you undoubtably already know.
Reply:Tanning beds = skin cancer.
Reply:Um what suntan lotion is.
Reply:Dnt tan when ur pregnant...
Reply:Yea, just bring a bathing suit. You can do it topless if you want. Don't do it too often or it will result in the orange glow. Oh yea, it leads to cancer.
Reply:I don't think it's a waste of money at all.

I'm gonna start going again in like a week.

I usually just wear underwear.
Reply:You should know that you will get premature age spots and wrinkles from tanning. You are also likely to get skin cancer.
Reply:Don't do it. . . I've had a horrible experience.
Reply:You start off by going 5 minutes for the first few times or you will burn- then you slowly go up to 7 minutes and then stop at 15 minutes.

I highly suggest not going though. My sister got skin cancer from the tanning bad and trust me, it's not worth it.
Reply:well if you dont want tan lines dont wear anything.. but since its your first time only go for about 10 mins.. but then go to to twenty minutes after a while.. you wont turn orange at all.. and i wouldnt take the ipod.. maybe a little radio or something or play your ipod full blast
Reply:use fake tan from a bottle. it won;t reck your skin
Reply:Depends on your skin tone. Start out at about 5 min. They play music at most places. You will need to turn unless you are in a stand up. You can wear underwear, bikini or nude. Your choice.
Reply:The first thing you should know, is that tanning will accelerate the aging process and is known to cause skin cancer.

Please learn to be happy with yourself as you are.

-wear light(spf 5-15) sun lotion, or else it increases chance of cancer and you get a really bad tan

-I'm not sure about the ipod, but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't

-find the color you want to be, then pick one or two shades lighter, you can always tan more, but usually when you pick a shade that you think is going to work it turns out horrible, so yeah
Reply:You should know that in fifty years you will get skin cancer. I dont know about you but I would rather be pale than die.
Reply:well it depends on your skin tone. i get tan and not orange.

i take my ipod but only in my right year b/c the cord will give you a tan line over your left ear. id start off like 5 mins if its your first time.

if you dont wear underwear be sure to wipe it down. if you do wear small underwear if you dont want much of a tan line.
Reply:try fake tanning stuff. i'm fuaking pale and i can't tan, so i'm hopeless in that area.

tanning too much is really dangerous anyhow
Reply:I go tanning all the time. Make sure you buy some indoor tanning lotion and wear goggles to protect your eyes. You can bring your ipod but they usually have radios in them. Depending how dark you are naturally they can start you out any where between 3- 15 mins. The max time is 20 mins but you won't go in that long until you are at your peak tan. I never turned orange from going tanning in a bed. I would wear a bathing suit or go in the buff just be careful where you go and make sure that they are clean and sanitary. I hope I helped good luck.

How do I get tanning lotion out of clothes?

I know - I'm stupid! But I have a white blazer type jacket that is 97% cotton and 3% spandex. I have a bad habit of wearing it after I go tanning and now it is really dirty from the tanning lotion. Someone told me to use Dawn Dish Soap because it works on everything. What should I use? And how do I use it? Just as a pretreater or as a laundry detergent and how much???
How do I get tanning lotion out of clothes?
You are not stupid! It happens to all of us, the only reason I know is because my grandma told me once, you can use any grease fighting dish soap, dawn is the gentlest, use it as a pre-treater, put a couple drops on each stain put warm water on the spots and gently rub with your finger into the spots, let it sit for only like 2 minutes then throw in the washer, you can wash in cold water, don't wash in hot!! It'll mess up your clothes BAD.
How do I get tanning lotion out of clothes?
dawn and tide are the best. Pretreat with either, then rub the stain with a toothbrush or your finger and wash as usual with reg. laundry soap. let it sit for about 30 min. before washing Good luck
Reply:You should wash the Blazer by itself with TIDE with bleach as a detergent ; one cup full
Reply:I've looked in my Queen of Clean book and I can't find anything pointing straight to suntan lotion. However, I'm assuming since suntan lotion is an oily or greasy substance you would treat it the same you would for grease stains. What the book suggests for grease stains (old and\or dry) is to spry some WD-40 on the spot to rejuvenate the oil, then use Dawn on that spot and rub it in. You can wash the garment as usual. When you use WD-40 you need to make sure that you get all of the spots of the WD-40 with the Dawn or you will get new spots. For example, I sprayed the front of my shirt and didn't realize that it went to the back. I didn't treat the back. I had to treat it all over again after it came out of the dryer.
Reply:Pour your liquid laundry detergent right on the stains and let it sit for 1/2 hour before you wash it. Pour the amount of detergent you'll need for the entire load if you need to. The surfactant breaking agents will release the oily stain from your clothes and they'll be fine.

i am using banana boat's spf 4 dark tanning lotion for outdoor tanning but i dont like how my skin absorbs it so fast. i've read that the sun likes moist and wet skin and you tan faster when you're oily so im wondering if adding baby oil to my tanning lotion will give me better results??????

p.s. i dont want to hear about how sun = cancer i know already
Can i mix baby oil with my spf 4 tanning lotion for better results?
i do this:

open ur sun lotion

pour some nivea sun tanning lotion oil

in it

mix/shake

close

and use!

happy tanning

p.s = better results =use (i forgot the name) a product(oil) which contains carrot extract!i tanned so fast with that!
Can i mix baby oil with my spf 4 tanning lotion for better results?
better results for what, your chemistry understanding? no.
Reply:You might burn sweetie
Reply:Why not just buy a tanning oil? ;)
Reply:overexposure to the sun can also cause dry skin, wrinkles, age spots and premature aging too. not cute, sister.

i think you will "fry" just right if you use baby oil. if that is what you want to to

have you thought of a spray tan?
Reply:I can tell you for a fact that being in the sun and using baby oil will definately get you a nice dark tan. You have to be careful though, last summer what I did to get tan was to oil up with baby oil and keep doing that so that my body would be wet but then I also had a spray bottle of water which helped a lot. For sure the baby oil will work for the tan, as far as mixing it up with spf 4, I do not see that it would hurt anything and it would still give you a tan.
Reply:Oil will make you burn faster. I would suggest drinking more water and applying lotion to your skin several times a day (when not tanning) to improve the moisture level in your skin (thus improving the health of the skin). This will make your skin tan faster.

I need advice on tanning...?

I am EXTREMELY fair skinned and burn very easily. I am so white, I'm almost blue. (haha) Does anyone have advice or tips or anything on tanning. I don't want to look like a piece of leather or anything, just a healthy glow, I guess. I have never been to a tanning place before.
I need advice on tanning...?
Well, to begin, if you usually do not tan outdoors, it will most likely be difficult to tan indoors. However, even though you are quite fair, you will be able to acheive a tan for your own skin tone, but it will not be anywhere near as dark as most folk's. Since you are interested in just a healthy glow, I can give you some advice. First, listen to your salon associates and follow their advice to the letter. They will instruct you on what exposure time is correct for you depending on what bed you tan in. Always err on the side of caution, begin in a level 1 or 2 bed and begin your tanning time at approximately 3-5 minutes. Increase this time gradually, 1-2 minutes each session AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT BURN. Even a little pink counts, so if you get pink, skip a day, go back and do the same amount of time, or less until you see ZERO pink, then move up a minute. Also, ALWAYS use a lotion from the salon. They will give your skin the most protection without an SPF, but will still allow your skin to tan faster than it's own rate, and will help you keep your tan longer. For your particular skin type, begin with an accelerator that is both tingle and bronzer free. I would recommend a lotion like California Tan's Ionyx step 1 or 2. Both contain TRF2000 which will increase skin cell oxygenation, melanin activating peptides to stimulate melanin production, grape seed oil to smooth skin's texture and ingredients to keep your tan up longer. This bottle has a pump inside that allows you to extract everybit of your lotion, so you waste nothing. This lotion is very clean smelling, and has a puffy consistency that is quick drying and non-greesy. This lotion is $57. If you want something cheaper, go for Fiesta Sun's Tangerini Tini. This product has extra virgin olive oil to lock in skin's moisture (helping you tan faster,%26amp; keep it longer) and other vitamins and minerals your skin needs while tanning. This lotion is a bit thicker than Ionyx, has a citrus scent and is $29. If you want exceptional skin care go for Ionyx, otherwise the Tangerini Tini is still great. Also, be sure to follow with a great salon moisturizer like Designer Skin's Angel. This lotion has hemp seed extract and vitamins C %26amp; E to hold in skin's moisture. It has a kiwi pear fragrance and is only $17. Hope this helped, happy tanning!!!
I need advice on tanning...?
make sure that when you do go to a tanning salon, you don't go tan happy. go a little bit at a time. first time go for maybe 5 minutes. and with every other time, increase. but if it's a good salon, they will recommend a good starting point for such fair skin. hope this helps!
Reply:Do yourself a BIG favor! Stay away from tanning. Instead, use self-tanning products. I always use Neutragena Micro Mist Spray level 3. I too am fair skinned and it looks very natural with out sun damage!

I used to go to tanning beds because I LOVED the look of being tan! Then 3 years ago, a very good friend of mine died from skin cancer. She left behind a brand new baby and a husband when she died. She was a "sun worshiper" and went to tanning beds too. The saddest thing I ever witnessed in my life was to hear her 1 year old baby crying for "Mommy" when they wheeled her casket down the isle. At the time I was 6mos. pregnant and vowed to never put my baby through and husband through such pain for simple vanity. Trust me, go sun-less for your tan! They make so many wonderful natural looking products on the market. Just try them at least a little while before you decide to go to a tanning bed!
Reply:You should not go to a tanning salon (unless you get the spray on tan). Maybe try using a self tanner and try it on a little spot to see if you like the color and then apply to your body.

Otherwise, use a sunblock SPF30 and just get some natural rays from the sun. It will take a few days for you to notice some tanning, but that is probably the most healthy natural glow.
Reply:What ever you do dont use a tanning bed!! They burn your insides. Even if its one of the best tanning things, its not worth cancer.
Reply:I burn very easily also, so if you are planning on going to a tanning salon, make sure that you only are in the bed for 3 minutes to start off with. Or ask one of the workers what they recommend for beginners, and make sure to tell them you burn easy. Another way to avoid burning is laying on your back, and then alternate to your sides also so that you aren't just laying there the whole time and you get an even tan. There are also lotions to put on your body after you've been in the tanning booth. You may feel a little bit burnt but not anything too unbearable. Be sure not to scratch either, once the redness starts to disappear then the tan appears. And you should probably start off going 3 times a week so that your tan can start progressing. Once you start tanning you can limit it to maybe once a week.
Reply:Go to a tanning salon. Buy indoor tanning lotion (it can be expensive). Your first time, only go for 5 minutes. Wait a couple days, go again for 5 minutes. Slowly up your time but continue to go no more than 3x a week.

You can also buy self tanning lotion. It's much better for you than using a tanning bed. Buy the nicest tanning lotion you can find and follow the directions. You do not want to appear orange or streaky.
Reply:Hi Heather, I have the exact same complexion as you (almost blue lol!). When I went to a tanning salon I found the lamp types much better than the tube types (don't know the correct technical terms). I had a 20 min session under the lamp type and had an exceptionally good tan, I was amazed. No redness just a nice tan. I then used Johnsons aftersun tanning lotion (you can get one for fair skin, its moisturiser with a bit of self tan in it so its very subtle and well suited to our skin types. I looked really healthy and golden and it was very natural - i didn't think it was possible for such fair skin to look so tanned. You're going to look fab!
Reply:Heather,

I know this is very easy for me to say, but don't do a tanning salon. It will probably cause a lot of problems for you later in life.

Try one of those tanning cremes by Dove or Estee Lauder.

Any attorneys out there who have cases where the top of a tanning bed broke and fell on someone?

Are there any attorneys out therewho have handled a lawsuit involoving indoor tanning beds. I was in a accident at a local tanning place when i went to the pull the top of the bed down on top of me and the bolt snapped and the top half of the bed fell across my chest and i was trapped in the bed, I yelled but no one came to help me,i thought I was going to be electrocuted because the bed was still on, when I was finally able to get out. the top of the tanning bed was blocking the door and I couldnt move it. So I couldnt get out. this was a brand new day spa and the bed was 20 plus years old. Has there been any legal judgements against a tanning salon for tanning beds collapsing on people. Please respond if you have any knowledge. The Chiropractor that owned it wanted to give me free tanning for the rest of my life, if I didnt do anything, I said no thank you I just want my money back.

Ernie, why on Earth should this person go to that law firm if the verdict was for the defense? This gal asking the question is seeking to be a plaintiff.

In any event, were you hurt in the accident? If not then you don't have a lawsuit. If you were hurt, go to any reputable personal injury lawyer in your area. You don't need someone who's done a tanning bed case. This is basic personal injury law. Go to www.martindale.com to find a listing for lawyers in your area.

Call this guy, who handled a tanning bed case: http://www.hinshawculbertson.com/people/...

Hi I want to go to the tanning salon in the next few days and I have a general question...............I would?
You have to be careful to wear only what the salon owner says is OK. You can harm your skin and ruin the tanning equipment.
Reply:You no what? i would personaly NEVER EVER go to the tanning salon because..., it can give you skin cancer my mom had it...it was bad...=(
Reply:I think so but when i went to my tanning salon i got some tanning lotion with bronzer in it and i got the perfect little golden tan. It was very cute!!!!
Reply:Please don't go bed tanning. Did you know that half an hour in a tenning bed is 8 hours worth of sun damage? It is honestly so bad for you. Skin cancer is on the rise, especially among teenagers. And yes I am one. I am not some 30 year old mother who is trying to lecture you. I have a friend who used to go tanning who know has what looks like first degree melanoma (ie. the deadliest form of skin cancer) but is too afraid to check it out and yes I have tried forcing her. If you want a tan, exfoliate REALLY well and go airbrushing. It's gorgeous!
Reply:I actually hopped in today for the first time with one of my friends and im only 16 so theres nothing to be scared of. I would recommend going to Beach Bum Tanning Salon. Its the best one out there. You could print a coupon that give you a week free since you are new. You can also buy a month for $20 using another coupon on there site. Its all set up for you there. They have the goggles so you don't have to worry about buying any. You can even go in the bed naked. They have nice private rooms and the fan in the bed is great. Start off with the platinum tanning beds for your first or second time. Then move on. They'll help you there.

What is the best tanning lotion?

I like very hot tingle lotion. I have dark brown hair and dark brown eyes and I like my skin to be very dark. Whats your favorite tanning lotion that gets you the darkest? I don't want to be carmel colored. I want to be BROWN.

I will pick and best answer and dont lecture about skin cancer or you will be thumbs down for not answering my question
What is the best tanning lotion?
If it is tanning lotion for a tanning bed then California Tan is really good to use. Also there is a kind called love potion or something like that in a purple and pink swirl bottle that works very well also.

If you just want to put lotion on to make you tan then Dove self tanning lotion is the best. It gradually tans you and doesn't turn orange. Also they have the new dial tanner but I don't know how that works.

Lotion to put on while sun tanning.

Ocean pacific has some good stuff that you can put on before you lay out or before you get a fake tan. also it has a bronzer in it. Another plus is it has a nice smell to it and you can just put it on when your going some where.

hope this helped.
What is the best tanning lotion?
I as well like to be very tan. I just bought Glow Fusion Tan. Its a spray bottle, so you dont have to worry about your hands being darker. Its very dark, and it is actually brown NOT orange. but I found it to be very splotchy and doesnt go on too evenly. Maybe if you get someone else to hold the bottle and spray you it will be more even. Theres also Sublime Glow by loreal which Eva Longoria uses and she is extremely brown.

Good Luck! =)
Reply:sunny boat it allways helps me!!
Reply:For outdoor tanning go with maui babe, its from hawaii but i think you can get it otheer places too. it works wonders.

What to do while tanning?

I get so bored when i'm tanning does anyone do anything else besides listen to music while u r tanning/???
What to do while tanning?
Figure out problems from work.
What to do while tanning?
I READ GOSSIPY MAGAZINES
Reply:read a book. talk on the phone.
Reply:I try to fall asleep
Reply:to stop being bored while tanning, STOP TANNING.
Reply:nap, lol make sure you set an alarm!!

listen to music, read a mag or a book... anything relaxing because that is what tanning is about!!
Reply:sometimes i tan when im tired so i fall asleep outside

you can read books - listen to music - talk on the phone - have somebody tan WITH U so u can talk to them.
Reply:Are you in a tanning booth or outside. If you are outside you don't just have to lay there the sun will get you where ever you are on the beach its best to stay active because your sweat wil help you tan faster just like water.
Reply:I dance while tanning..yes yes....
Reply:Don't tan, have fun playing games in the sun, and go swimming. Otherwise, your skin will look more aged and wrinkled than if you did not tan in the earlier days. stick with self tanner which gives you a faster, more accurate, less painful, safer tan. I decide not to sit in the sun for a long period of time, so that I wont age quicker than others.
Reply:I'd do any work that needs doing,

write lists of stuff i want to buy,

read a good glossy,

text/phone my mates,

dance to my iPod!!,

take your pet down the garden and play with/stroke it

or you could always get a friend round and you can mess around/do make-overs/ make cocktails etc in the sun! Good luck! =P

I need Tips for Tanning, in a Tanning bed?

I am going tanning in a bed for the first time, and I don't know what to do, pleas help, I don't know what to wear (if anything) or how long to go, I have fair skin and burn easily, please help me. If you have any suggestions please let me know!
I need Tips for Tanning, in a Tanning bed?
the salon will most likely have different levels of beds. So i strongly recomend you start in a level 1 if you burn easily. There is also tanning lotions you can buy there to help the tan develop. oh yeah and definitely tan naked!
I need Tips for Tanning, in a Tanning bed?
Most good tanning salons should know how long you should go in for. It depends on the bed you are going in to. Some are stronger than others because they have more lightbulbs or are stronger/brighter.....i would suggest not wearing anything because your just going to get tan lines and you could do that by just laying outside.

How often should u use a indoor tanning bed?

Yesterday I started a weekly sessions for tanning. I have 7 days consecutive to go tanning, but my question is, should i got every day, or how often should i be going? I already have a base tan.
How often should u use a indoor tanning bed?
You should not go any more then once in 48 hours, it takes time for the effects to show and you might accidently burn yourself if you go more often then every 48 hours. Trust me it seems like a waste of money not to use all you can, but if you get suburn you will not be able to tan for the rest of the week and would be an even bigger waste of money.
How often should u use a indoor tanning bed?
You shouldnt.

Solariums cause bad skin damage and skin cancer and age you so badly. They also look horrible.

If your worried there is stuff called natural glamour - 39.95 and it is a bronzing powder but it just takes the white off your skin. Really nice stuff invest in stuff and ditch the solarium.

What are your favorite tanning accessories?

goggles: what brand, style, etc?? and cost? i am new to tanning....and i dont want raccoon eyes!!! also interested in tanning lotion.....what kind is your fav, how much did it cost , where it you get it from..thanks!
What are your favorite tanning accessories?
personally I wouldn't go tanning. I did that for years straight and i wish i never did!!!!!!! But they make little stickers (gold) that you can put over eyes instead of glasses. and there are many tanning products out there ask the person at the front desk what they suggest using. That is what they are there for!!!!!! They will know what best to use on your skin type and what not. But one thing if you have a hard time tanning your legs they make a separate lotion that you put on them that works wonders!!!!!! its only 15-20 dollars and have many different brands.

What is the HOT TANNING OIL FOR?

In the local tanning salon I go to, they have hot tanning lotion that says it "burns" your skin.....does it feel painful? Has anyone used this? Thanks in advance for answering this....
What is the HOT TANNING OIL FOR?
i will say some women find it relexing and like it but some do not . it bring the darkness from tan. as for me i do not :0
What is the HOT TANNING OIL FOR?
It is actually more like a tingling sensation. There are usually levels, like 1, 2, or 3. It also helps you tan darker faster. Report It

Reply:Basting

I've never gone tanning at a salon...so how should I start?

Like, what's the maximum number of times I should go in a week?

Since I'm fair skinned, how long should my tanning sessions be?

Do I need to use lotion to tan better?
I've never gone tanning at a salon...so how should I start?
I'm not sure about all states but where I'm from you have to be certified to work at a tanning salon (I did) so when you go in they should be very knowledable. A little advice though... they aren't just selling the lotions to make money, they really do help your skin, your tan will last longer and look better. Use a lotion especially after you don't notice yourself getting darker. Also don't listen to people who say tanning bad... burning is what is bad, very bad so take it easy. tanning is your body's protection from a sun burn.
I've never gone tanning at a salon...so how should I start?
Just walk into a salon, and talk with the employee there. . .

they will give you good advise when they see you, and also suggest a certain lotion for your skin type.

good luck
Reply:You shouldn't, tanning causes skin cancer.
Reply:Don't start is actually the best way to keep skin healthy. most studies are now proving that you experience more skin damage in in a tanning salon than not becasue people are less likely to use sunscrren and the UVA and UVB rays are higher. With fair skin I'd suggest spray tanning instead so you won't hate yourself later.
Reply:yes 30 to 40 min 2-3
Reply:don't go! please don't go! you've got beautiful skin, let it be, why infest it with loads of cancer-fying rays, expose it to risks of your face hardening, coming out golden or bright orange

stay as u r. you're beautiful. you don't need sun tan (lotion or otherwise)
Reply:When you go for the first time, they will not let you go more than once every 24 hours. You will also answers questions on a sheet about your skin, so they can ascertain whether you burn or tan easily to adjust how long your sessions will be. You will also not be in the bed long your first few sessions so you get used to the UV lamps so you don't burn.

Lotion is up to you, but I use a tanning bed lotion.
Reply:DOn't do it go in a sunny place like Egypt and sun bathe a suntanning salon is harmful.
Reply:Start by asking yourself WHY you want to be darker???
Reply:if you wanna start tanning, you will have to buy a tanning

lotion at the salon, they have 0 spf and they are approved to be used in tanning salon beds: some of them like banana boat

arent because they are too oily, and can damage the bed

the 1st time you go, go for like 2-3 minutes. do that for like

the 1st 3 times or so, then move up to like 5 minutes

it seems like only a little amout but you will get a horribly itchy

sunburn if you over do it (trust me lol i know from exspirence)

and when its itchy and you still go tanning, its tingles SO BAD!

basicaly the gyst is to do a little more everytime, and you will

see results by the 7th trip or so. im fair skinned but i go tanning

alot forthe summer time, the max you can do is like 20 minutes in the bed but you have to work up towards that
Reply:at first, you can go every other day. once you get tan, maintain it once or twice a week.

start out at 10 to 12 min. in a regular bed, then go up when darker.

YES tanning lotion is key. however, you don't have to buy the uber expensive stuff there, you can get tanmax at walmart for about $7 instead of $30, it works just as well.
Reply:When you buy minutes, the girls will help you with everything.
Reply:i was the same as you, unsure about what to do or to expect... just go to your local salon, ask around first for the most recommended one's. go in and speak to the manager, they are always very helpful and will explain everything to you in detail. they will tell you how long your tanning sessions should be. since you have fair skin they will prob say to start off slowly. they will also tell you which tanning lotion will be the best for your skin.
Reply:I used to tan all the time. I don't recommend it cuz it is so bad for your skin and there are some really good skin glow moisturizers out there. I like Jergen's Natural Glow. But if you still want to go tanning, you should check out the salon first. A good way to tell is to take a look at the people that work there. Are they sunburned or orange looking. Those sale people are there to help you, so ask for a tour of the facility and ask them about how long to go for. Different beds require different times. On average 5 minutes in a regular bed 3 or 4 times a week is good. But some of the newer beds are designed to tan you faster, but you shouldnt use them until you develop a base tan. You should ALWAYS use lotion! It will enhance your tan and keep your skin well moisturized against the drying effects of tanning beds. And make sure you are using a tanning bed lotion otherwise you will burn. Hope this helps!
Reply:actually you shouldn't start at all...do you even know what it does to you?? just cos some random celebs do it (and turn disgustingly orange in the process) you should just be yourself. ppl like you for that especially when you can shrug off all media pressure and move on, and be confident

btw, it causes skin cancer and eye damage. and

"can also have a damaging effect on the immune system and cause premature aging of the skin, giving it a wrinkled, leathery appearance."
Reply:The best advice is not to start. The more sun you get, the more you wrinkle and the skin damage is irreversible. You can do the spray on tan or lotions to give you the sun kissed glow you are looking for. On a personal note, I used tanning beds here and there because I rarely had time to tan at the beach. Last year while at the dermatologist they found a growth on my back that was cancerous. They removed it in time before it spread. So I was very lucky. I am only 29 years old.
Reply:Okay, I'm going to be repeating some peoples' posts here but...

Tanning cause wrinkles and sagging. How? UV rays penetrate into the skin, alter cells (thus, skin cancer) and damages collagen and elastin.

Since you are fair-skinned, your chances of getting all wrinkly and saggy are greater than someone who is naturally dark. By tanning through a tanning bed or purposely laying out in the sun, you're making your skin age before its time. As tough as it is to be a fair-skinned individual in the US or in Europe, its equally as tough to be a female who looks old.

Sun damage is cumulative.

The only safe tan is the fake one.

Anyway, up to you if you want to do it.

Jergens natural glow self tanning lotion and sun??

heyy.

I was wondering if I use jergens natural glow self-tanning lotion and then sit in the sun would i get tanner quicker? THANKS!
Jergens natural glow self tanning lotion and sun??
No. I do use a lotion with gradual tanner after I shower. I tan both outdoors and in a tanning bed. I'm a tan pro. If you want a lotion for tanning get a swedish beauty tan product. Lotions without bronzers or tingle factors only work by keeping the skin from flaking as much which holds in the tan color. Basically any good moisturizing lotion with help extend a tan life, but to actually increase tanning color long term a tingle factor lotion works best.

I do use the jergens firm lotion with gradual tanner on my legs and arms for the sparkle factor. I love it! GRADUAL is the key word to keep from looking orange.
Jergens natural glow self tanning lotion and sun??
yes but when i tried that stuff it turned me orange!
Reply:prob. but skip that crap it runs and streaks and takes weeks to get it off from you.
Reply:Don't do it! Go to the tanning bed-unhealthy yes but a lot quicker and easier.

What's the best tanning lotion?

I go to tanning beds and right now I'm using Halo. It's SPF 4 and has either no or single bronzer. I'm thinking about buying Revival or Fortune. Fortune is a quadruple bronzer, so I don't know if it will make me oragne at all or anything. I'm just wondering what the best tanning lotion to use is. I'm looking for something with at least a triple bronzer that won't make me orange!
What's the best tanning lotion?
facial foundation is the best choice. you'll have to rub it all over your body.
What's the best tanning lotion?
Neutronega
Reply:Spellbound is the best. It has four bronzers and has a silicone emulsion that feels really thick and moisturizing on your skin. If this isn't available go with fortune. Neither of these turn you orange. Revival is an ok lotion but it doesn't smell very good and it isn't very thick.
Reply:Crystal 12, its brand new for 2008 by Australian Gold, best price is at www.athomeskincare.com, I trust their website becuase Ive purchased stuff from ebay stores and their products are watered down, I have been purchasing from this website for over a year. You should try their stuff.
Reply:Have you ever tried a tingle lotion? They work so well for me. I work in a tanning salon and I always reccomend a tingle. Hot Amaretto by Swedish Beauty is my absolute favorite, its a triple bronzer, and it smells great! Also, it has a bit of shimmer in it so your skin looks gorgeous after. I honestly would not reccomend anything more than a pentabronzer (5) because it will make you orangey. Tingles stimulate your melanin, and brings it to the surface which allows a deeper darker tan. However, it does sting, or "tingle" a little the first few times you use it, and you will be a little pink, but that goes away after an hour or hour and a half. The results are amazing.

I get my Hot Amaretto off of Ebay for about 20 plus free shipping.

What is a good TANNING lotion to get... what NOT to get.... Cost, whatever else you can tell me....?

I ITCH whenever I get in the tanning bed (my back %26amp; sometimes my stomach) anyone know of any tanning lotions that will help this?
What is a good TANNING lotion to get... what NOT to get.... Cost, whatever else you can tell me....?
You have to get a tanning lotion that is specifically for a tanning bed... not for the outdoors. I would suggest something with a bronzer in it which will give you a darker tan faster. It's basically a self-tanner that works with the tanning. I would make sure that it doesn't have "hot stuff" or "cooling complex" in it. That stuff is crazy... it brings your red blood cells to the surface of your skin and catches the light - when you're done tanning you'll be bright red for about half an hour... then the cells bring your tan down deeper into your skin giving you a darker longer lasting tan. I never used the stuff though. It's pretty extreme. Tanning lotions can range from $15 all the way up to $45 or more. Whatever you choose get something that says moisturizing on it with a brozer. Go around to different tanning salons if the salon you go to doesn't have cheaper lotions. Flip around half-ways through your tanning time to avoid getting sweaty which could be causing your itch.
What is a good TANNING lotion to get... what NOT to get.... Cost, whatever else you can tell me....?
anything by Nivea
Reply:Well, I'm not sure about tanning lotion but you can get a product by Jergens called Natural Glow (for body, not face) that is a good moisturizer and makes you look tan but not orange. It's also cheap, like $5 or something
Reply:Beach Bum brand, try the Beach Bum Rum with bronzer. I used that stuff when I went tanning and it was the darkest I've ever gotten. Didn't itirate my skin either.

there are many high quality tanning lotions and creams out there that will give you a temporary tan. Suggest you search a good department store for the better quality.

Looking for a good tanning salon can you help me?

I live in Phoenix, Arizona and I would like to be tanned when summer comes around. I really don't know what's a good price on tanning salon. and if you live in the area could you tell me where i might want to go. Oh im new at it tooo sooo i don't know much!!!!
Looking for a good tanning salon can you help me?
Please stay away from tanning beds, they are worse for causing cancer than laying out in the sun.

Go with spray on tan or self-tanning lotions.

Protect your skin and your health...don't go for tanning beds that are going to cause you to develop skin cancer.

Where do you apply tanning lotion?

I am a beginner at self tanning. Do you apply the tanning lotion everywhere, including your face?
Where do you apply tanning lotion?
put it anywhere you want to look older and have wrinkles in the future, it always works
Where do you apply tanning lotion?
yes.
Reply:my answer is what remains from other ppl answers
Reply:Everywhere I want tanned.....
Reply:My wife uses that and she puts it only on the body, and avoids spots like elbows and knees where it will look really dark. She NEVER puts it on her face.
Reply:I do not use tanning lotion. I suggest using sun blocking lotion only.
Reply:onto my hot sexxy body. or you put the lotion in the basket.
Reply:no, don't put it on your face, unless you buy a tanner that is made specifically for the face. put it on your body though, avoiding the undersides of your hands and feet, and sparingly at the joints (elbows, knees, ankles) because you don't have very much skin there so it will go on darker.
Reply:yes
Reply:I think that body tanning lotion does not work well on the face. There are special tanning formulations for the face. Use that on your face; the body stuff on your face may cause you to break out. Use the face stuff for your face.Remember to exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate, so the color will be even.
Reply:yes, unless you have sensitive skin and dont want to break out then dont put it on your face
Reply:u put it every where dont 4get ur ears my aunt never did her ears it such a laugh the rest of her was dark but her ears were as white as snow
Reply:yep... EVERYWHERE! that means: on the face, behind the ears, between ur fingers and toes, ur chest, ur legs, ur tummy, ur ***, ur legs, under ur foot....and anywhere else that is exposed to the sun and that u want tanned... i'm guessing u don't want to be tanned in some places and non-tanned in others, right?
Reply:Some people apply it on different areas. Also, some people tan nude, and others tan with a bra, and panty. But, you should apply tanning lotion on your legs, arms, stomach, chest area, and if you want your face. They also make face tanners that are different from regular tanning lotions. Also, since you are a beginner tanner, make sure you start off slow when staying in the tanning bed. Start off staying about 7 minutes, then as you gradually get tan, you can stay longer, and once you have reached your tanning goal, then you can stay 20-25. Also, they make different tanning lotions- They make bronzers, and tinglers. They bronzers help bring out natural pigments in you skin to help you look darker, and the tingler is a lotion that when you put it on, you tingle, and you may feel like you are burning, but you are not. A tingler helps get you tanner faster, or at least that is what i think. Also, it makes you look really red after you get out, and the red will go down in about a 1 or so. Then it will turn brown, and you will get really goof effects. But, if you think that you dont want to tingle, or get red, then use a bronzer. Also, make sure that you wear eye protection. UV rays can be harmful to your eyes. They make googles, and also sticker things that can go over your eye. So, it is your pick. Ask the tanning salon where you go- ask them which one they recommend. Also, after you tan, do not take a bath for about 2 hours. Or, it will decrease the chances of you getting dark. Also, make sure that you use a mosturizer after you tan, and after you take a bath/ It will help keep your tan longer, and it will make you glow!! Also, make sure that it is a mosturizer for after tan- They make some that arent for tanning, so make sure that you get the right one. Also, a good tanning lotion can cost anywhere from 30 and up. And you need a good, name brand lotion. And if you are fun, then they also make stickers that you can put on a place on your body- Such as your stomach- If you put the sticker in the same place everytime, then after a while you will see how white u used to be, and how dark you are now. It is optional, and used as a sex appeal. And if u dont want any tan lines, then tan nude. But, if you think that tan lines are sexy, then wear panty and bra. Also, when you go to tan- Make sure that you clean your bed- NO MATTER WHAT!! They say that they clean it, but you can clean it to to make sure!! Tanning beds can be nasty, and there are some nasty people that lay in them, so be sure that you clean it really good!! Also, if you want you can bring your head phones, and listen while u tan!! I hope that i have helped you!! HAPPY TANNING, AND I HOPE THAT YOU HET DARK!! EMAIL ME IF U HAVE ANY QUESTIONS!! mattandmanda20005@yahoo.com

Ladies Please, which sunless tanning lotion / spray is the best and why?

What is the best sunless tanning lotion, or spray is the best for a very light skinned person, that will give a light tanned look that won't be orange? Would appreciate your answers on this one. Also, will it come off on the clothes? Also, how long does it last or does it have to be done after every shower? Thank you all so very much.
Ladies Please, which sunless tanning lotion / spray is the best and why?
I like "Jergens Natural Glow", its the only sunless tanner I've ever used that didn't leave me orange or streaky. Its a moisturizer with just a small amount of tanner, that gradually gives you a natural summer glow. I even use it on my face, I love it! Give a try, you will to.
Ladies Please, which sunless tanning lotion / spray is the best and why?
I love L'Oreal Sublime Glow (gradual self taning in FAIR) and for the face I use L'Oreal Sublime Bronze in Light/Medium (it comes in a yellow bottle with an orange top) and it's the best I've ever tried. Report It

Reply:I like Jergan Natural Glow
Reply:Benefit's 'Jiffy' tan is good. Get it from Boots, it's reliable and gives a healthy glow with a hint of sparkle. It only lasts a couple of days, but it's easy to apply, and wash off again if you make a mistake.
Reply:It is best to not worry about getting sun, but Netrogenis is a good one that you use gradually it is called build-a-tan
Reply:Well Jergens glow is a great product for lighter skin tones. Takes awhile to see anything. Your best bet if you have the money is to go to a major department store cosmetic counter. They will have samples and give you better knowledge. Its worth it and better results as a natural looking tan!
Reply:Jergens is really good for lighter skin tones. It is much more natural than any other I have seen or used. It doesn't turn your skin orange and it doesn't streak. I would suggest using it daily because it does tend to fade quick.
Reply:Oil of Olay and Jergens both put out excellent products that make you look very natural although they work a little slower. You can use these year round because they also contain a very good moisturizer
Reply:lotion deffinetly jergen natural glow.

cheap and awsome.

What is a good tan amplifier to use in the tanning bed?

I'm going to the tanning bed (yes I know the risks thank you,) and I want an amplifier or enhancer that is really good, and I can see results, any suggestions? Whats the name of it and where can I get it?
What is a good tan amplifier to use in the tanning bed?
anything that is a tingle power in it.. such as intoxicating T40 from swedish beauty.. or anything that says it has tingle power.. but be careful because it makes your blood rise to the top and it kind of feels like you've been stung by a jellyfish but believe me its well worth it.. it works the best out of all lotions.. goodluck, i work at a tanning salon this is how i know this.. so if you have any other questions feel free to email me or message me on my myspace.. myspace.com/jaimelaine

poo
Reply:I love Coco Beach Bum......I also use a lotion called Sex Kitten it has hemp in it so you really feel the heat...
Reply:use any type of accelorator. it doesn't have to be the most expensive one you can find. they will work if keep your skin very moisturized and keep going to the bed on a regular basis.
Reply:Australian gold puts out some good products, that include age defying ingredients as well as bronzers. You can buy on the internet, just look up tanning lotions
Reply:Actually, there's aren't any risks...Yeah, I was suprised too...Just ask them. The people that work there have to go to a class on what they do.

Let's see if I can remember...UV-B is bad UV-C is ok. The lamps are designed to operate at UV-C. So...You still get the UV for tanning but the UV-B isn't there.

Anyways...Buy the tanning accelerator from the salon. Make sure you follow the steps...When you start out...Use step 1 and so forth.

As far as WHAT to get...You just have to find out which one works for your skin type. A good salon will let you have a sample until you find what you like.

Can you use regular tanning lotion for tanning beds?

tanning bed lotions are so expensive, whats the difference between them?
Can you use regular tanning lotion for tanning beds?
no! You don't have to use tanning lotion if you don't want to but you can't use outside spf stuff. It won't give you your best tan and it could damage the beds.If they check the beds after each person they can tell you used the spf stuff. Also if there is any damage you can be held responsible.
Can you use regular tanning lotion for tanning beds?
theres really no difference. ive gone tanning, and i used my own lotion. the ones at the salon are always chocolate or coffee flavored or something. smells gross.

Does Coppertone Endless Summer Tanning lotion work good, and last long?

I just dont have time to go out and tan at a tanning salon, so im looking for a lotion that would look natural.
Does Coppertone Endless Summer Tanning lotion work good, and last long?
No it doesn't. To be honest, sunless tanners fall into that category of products where, most of the time, you get what you pay for. That means that a vast majority, if not all of the products found in your local drugstore or walmart aren't going to be high quality. Some good ones are Fake Bake and St. Tropez (both available at sephora.com). They're a little pricey though. I've been reading on several sites that Paula's Choice Almost the Real Thing sunless tanner is supposed to be good, and it's only $12. I haven't tried it yet though, and it's only available off of the company's website. For the price, I'm hoping it works! Hope that helps!
Does Coppertone Endless Summer Tanning lotion work good, and last long?
NO WAY - IT'S DOESN'T WORK GOOD... TRY NEUTROGENA'S (SP??) PRODUCTS
Reply:well i fu have a little time to just stop but the tanning place but some lotion and then u wont have to go out and alot to tan

Ever hear of anyone tanning during pregnancy??

My friend and I are both 27 weeks pregnant and she seems to think its ok to go in a tanning bed .. she said her OB said she could as long as she didn't stay long... It seem strange that a Dr would advise a pregnant women to tan ...... Any comments??

Thanks in advance!!
Ever hear of anyone tanning during pregnancy??
Tanning increases your risks of skin cancer. The waves of light cook you from the inside out, similar to a microwave. So, why WOULD she even risk it? A healthy baby is more important than a tan.
Ever hear of anyone tanning during pregnancy??
it is fine to tan while pregnant. she just might develop an uneven skin tone due to the pregnancy hormones. Contrary to popular believe tanning beds do not get hot. Most salons have fans and a.c. so you do not get hot at all!

*edit again* people are so ill informed on here. A tanning bed WILL NOT cook you from the inside out. There are signs up in most rooms that say that is impossible! UV Rays and Microwaves are completely different!

http://www.tanningnews.org/2006/08/is-ta...
Reply:I doubt her Dr. RECCOMENDED tanning. I don't think any Dr. would reccomend it. He may have told her that it was up to her, the main additional risk of tanning during pregnancy is a permanant darkening of the skin.
Reply:wow...i wouldn't want to go to her dr**
Reply:i would diffently say that would be bad i dont see why any doctor would say its ok. it doesnt take long to get really hot and I would think that could harm the baby
Reply:yes, there was this girl i worked with who tanned during her whole pregnancy. She just covered up her belly, she said her doc told her it was ok as long as she didn't tan her belly. I think it is completely wrong. I would never do it.
Reply:Not smart!!
Reply:I wouldn't do it, I would feel wierd laying in there in a hot bed. But with my first child I did do the mystic tan and plan to do it with this pregnancy as well. The dr. said that was safe.
Reply:I wouldn't go. My doctor said different and what sense does it make that you can tan but no hot tub or sauna. Good luck.
Reply:People I know have done it and my OB stated early on for less then 10 minutes. Spray tans look just as good. I would recommend that.
Reply:I just wouldnt do it (period). Yes I had a friend who did this and her child was perfect, But I also tanned in may of 07. Then I found out i was pregnant. Unfortunately I lost that baby at 6 weeks. Right now I'm 12 weeks pregnant and I'm not going to tan artificialy. I use spray tans to keep up some color. Maybe when it gets to be summer time I will lay out so I can regulate my temperature. Plus so it wont spike like it does in a tanning booth.

You just have to think what is more important being a mother or vanity?

Just be carefull and congratz
Reply:There isn't any reason not to, other than her skin may be more sensitive. A LOT of people are misinformed on this topic, and spread myths such as it will cook the baby or cause birth defects. Neither are true.

I have never tanned in my life, and my ob actually advised me to for a little while each week.

No studies have shown that it will hurt the baby, but some have been done that show it won't.

EDIT: I agree about people being misinformed. People who are so against it are simply being foolish and ignorant of science.

Are tanning beds actually okay to use or no?

i have been told that tanning beds are not bad for you, however i seem to disagree. im just wondering if anyone knows the actual answer to this myth.lol
Are tanning beds actually okay to use or no?
They are worse than lying out in the sun because of the higher UV rate! Tell those people out there that it's false that they are good for you. The safest tan is a fake tan!
Are tanning beds actually okay to use or no?
It is not a myth. They are bad for you. Melanoma is the most deadly form of cancer.
Reply:Tanning bed are bad for you. You can get skin cancer and you can get rashes. I was in class once and this girl started freaking out and taking off her shirt and rolling in the snow because she went tanning the day before and got a bad rash.

So you should probably pass on the whole tanning bed thing.
Reply:They'll age you. I'm 31 and stay away and my facialist told me that I have better skin than many of the 17 year olds she works on and it's all because of the tanning bed. Spray tan is the only safe way.
Reply:Let's equate it to McDonalds. A meal now and then, although it isn't particularly good for you, doesn't do you much harm. If however, you were eating McDonalds regularly, it would cause extreme damage to your body.

Tanning is not inherently good for your skin, but a little won't do much harm. Tanning regularly highly increases your chances of (a) being really wrinkly when you're older and (b) getting skin cancer. Considering your skin gets a lot of sun generally anyway, I would rather not take the risk. Just be aware of the risks and act sensibly.
Reply:They are bad. You can actually die. No amount of exposure is safe.

If you must be tan, use a sunless tanner. Or better yet learn to love your pale.
Reply:Well, being in the sun a lot is bad for you. (same with tanning beds). A lot of people like going out in the sun because it provides vitamin d. I live in california, and a lot of the older people have leather skin from being out in the sun too much. GROSS
Reply:I gave another answer to this type of question. Some tanning bed companies take videos of girls taking off their clothes, and even nude lying on the tannning bed from underneath. Also, wear sunscrean you can burn. If you are an exhibitionist and don't mind the manager watching you on closed circuit camera go for it. I will pass.
Reply:Yes, they are bad for you. I should know, I used to use tanning beds and now I have to live with the consequences. I've already had two cancerous moles removed and have damaged my skin to the point where I look older than my years. It's very depressing and I'm stuck paying out for expensive treatments and procedures to try and fix the damage caused to my skin from tanning beds. I do not recommend that you try it!

Indoor tanning lotion?

I'm looking for a good lotion for indoor tanning. I was going to order Hawaiian Tropic, but read a couple bad reviews. Has anybody had good luck with their products?
Indoor tanning lotion?

THIS STUFF IS THE BEST! You can use it on your face too. It doesn't streak and dries really fast. It has that "brownish/bronze" look, not the orange look.

Whats a good tanning lotion?

i went tanning 4 times already so im like a step 1 im not to tan.

maybe something with a bronzer but not to to expencise maybe 35 dollors or less.
Whats a good tanning lotion?
Any of the lotions from Designer Skin work very well and smell incredible! - They come in double and triple bronzers and range in price from approx $13 up to $50. Even with the cost of shipping it's still less expensive than purchasing from most local tanning salons too... http://www.lotion4you.com/Designer_Skin_...

what's yr favorite tanning product and why?

indicate if its a spray, cream, etc.

thanksss
Best tanning product??
i dont know but you should not be "laying out" in the sun!! you'll get skincancer, i guarantee it!
Best tanning product??
avon sunless tanning lotion. i love it for when i don't have the time (or the weather!) to lay in the sun!

shower. apply. color in about an hour.

never streaky or orange, just nice brown color. and you can reapply it in a couple days and get darker, it doesn't just stop at one shade.

and the person above me--don't believe them. while laying in the sun (especially without sunscreen) is a good way to increase your chances of getting skin cancer, you are NEVER guaranteed to get cancer. never ever ever ever. not any type of cancer, not anything. NEVER.
Reply:I like to use Neutrogena mousse

and, I don't apply it with my hands because it always turns out streaky, I fold a paper towel a few times and apply some onto the paper towel and then run it into my skin.
Reply:I personally use a tanning booth, its very relaxing and you get tan too! But I do know that it somewhat unhealthy for your skin. Another alternative is a spray tan, a lot of times called the "Mystic Tan". Many tanning salons offer these types and it is completely healthy. Pricing usually ranges from $20 - $30, and it lasts up to 10 days.

Good luck!

Which is better tanning in a tanning bed OR outside in the sun..???

i know tanning is bad in general...but still.
Which is better tanning in a tanning bed OR outside in the sun..???
tanning bed bcuz in a tanning bed u can control how long and how much uv rays u are exposed to. but sunlest tanning lotion is best. however i do the tanning bed. it works for me. better then the sun with results. just take it slow and use a mosterizoer or body wash like dove's energy glow moisturizing body wash to help keep your tan so you don't have to go to the tanning bed as often.
Which is better tanning in a tanning bed OR outside in the sun..???
Neither , use spray tan. Outsde in the sun is REALLY bad for you cause you could get skin cancer.
Reply:well personally i get much tanner way faster in the sun..depends which you prefer and how fast you tan in both..
Reply:The actual sun is better for you than the harsh uv rays of the tanning bed.
Reply:probably the sun because you get vitamins from it.. but remember dont tan for too long!!
Reply:Well, a sun tan is more natural... But there's a risk of skin caner. NEVER USE A TANNING BED! You can get melanoma. Very bad. I would have to go with spray-on.
Reply:Neither. Both of these things will cause premature aging, and you'll begin to be sorry at probably 30 years old. I don't think spray tanner is a good idea either. It's loaded with synthetic chemicals that aren't good for your skin.
Reply:the sun does not cause skin cancer!!!!! Sun lotion does. think about it! that is in the book natrual cures they don't want you to know about!

just use the sun. a tanning bed seems unnatrual.
Reply:the sun, if you have to choose. But the thing is that you can still do just as much damage out in the sun b/c it's likely you're going to spend more time in it to get the same results from a bed. Do you think skin cancer is worth it?? You do realize skin cancer can kill, right?
Reply:well tanning outside is supposed to be the one thats better for you but tanning beds get you a tan faster and it gets darker too...so really its up to you
Reply:If by better, you mean less harmful to your skin, then tanning by the sun is best, because the synthetic rays from a tanning booth are much more harmful, and the strength of radiation has been proven to be a factor in some cases of skin cancer. The sun gives your skin the opprotunity for your skin to soak up D vitamins. One statistic shows that thirty minutes in a tanning bed can equal up to eight hours of the suns harmful rays. Be careful! You don't want to get sun burnt! If you have somewhat fair skin, reconsider tanning, cancer from over exposure from the sun or tanning booths is not worth it.
Reply:The sun is better for you, in limited exposure of course! Tanning beds are just intense concentrations of UVB light that can be very harmful to your skin. The increased amounts can destroy elastins in your skin and make your skin look older than you are!

Not to mention, the sun also provides a vitamin our bodies need- vitamin D. So if you are going to tan, I would choose the sun! Just remember, either way, always in moderation!
Reply:It seems as though the natural approach would work better. Sun works to produce vitamin D for bones and is another source of vitamin, for what, I cannot think of.

The sun is also an anti-depressant.

I don't think tanning is bad in general, you know, otherwise we shouldn't go outside at all in the summer or go swimming or what have you.
Reply:I copied this from a website: if you are rarely exposed to the sun, you have a greater chance of acquiring some forms of cancer. Some have even found that people who do not receive regular sun exposure are more likely than others to develop malignant melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer).

i agree with that, so i dont think a light summer glow is bad.

But to answer your question I dont know which is worse what i do know is that my moms friends who do the whole tanning bed thing are a lot more wrinkly and shriveled up than my mom and my mans mom who only have a little tiny bit of sun damage and have both had lovely natural suntans all their lives. So I think the sun is better.

Yay! cause you be getting nice fesh air and swimming and getting a tan all at once
Reply:If you use the tanning beds or the sun, sure you'll get a good tan, but then you will start devoloping moles and it doesn't look good!! Spay on tans are good, and I've been hearing that lotion...dont know whats it called...but it make you glow and you look tan! My mom LOVES it
Reply:Depends: do you want skin cancer from a natural source or a man-made one?

Why are you insisting on tanning, even though you know it is a bad thing?
Reply:if you must tan, the sun, because tanning bads triple the amount ov UV/B rays..
Reply:I get my tan from spray tans or tanning short time indoors. Indoors your time and rays are controlled. The booth I go in has less then 1% UVB. I probley tan indoor two or three times a month to keep nice color. When I am outside not knowing my exposure I wear a high sunblock.
