Is tanning safe for this reason?

im going to mexico and my mom says i should go tanning before so i dont burn right away in mexico....is that right?
Is tanning safe for this reason?
Yeah, you could try it!

But, don't make a habbit of it, b/c the tanning salons are worse than getting a tan in the sun!

Worse cause of getting cancer!!!!
Is tanning safe for this reason?
Yes, if you are fair skinned and go in the sun in mexico, you could get a bad burn within minutes. Having a tan is like having sun screen on.
Reply:no tanning in a tanning bed is bad for you.

and the ultra violet lights have a chemicle that make you addicted to them.

your going to want to go back there all the time.

its healthier to natrually tan.

and if you burn in mexico your going to burn in a tanning bed.
Reply:my science teacher said spray tan/fake tan protects you from the sun

maybe do that
Reply:it is better to gradually tan, but the best/safest way is to just use heavier sunblock on your first few days and reapply every hour or two, decreasing as the trip goes on.

tanning, especially in a bed, is horrible for you. use sunscreen!
Reply:wat the hull, im from australia

and they made it clear

tanning is NEVER safe

in mexico, put on 30+ sunscreen and protective clothing

not even solarium tanning is safe, it was in the news that 3 women developed skin cancer because of tanning.

Reply:Any UV ray exposure is bad for your skin, be it real or artificial. Skip the tanning bed and use sunscreen in Mexico.
Reply:dave s has the right idea
Reply:I have done that before going on a cruise...Tanning in general isnt good for you, but it will probably help you from frying (the sun there is stronger than here). However, a pre-existing tan and fake bake products are NOT sunscreens. You are very likely to still get a sunburn. I fell asleep on the beach in Haiti and woke up with red hands and feet (didnt think to use sunscreen there). Let me tell you how good it feels to wear flip flops on burned feet.
Reply:just use a really high sun protection factor in your sunscrean. i use a 60 sunblock and i don't get burnt and i'm very fair skinned. artificial or any form of uv light can be damaging and cause skin cancer. also it can look kind of fake from a tanning bed.
Reply:I'm not going to Mexico but I am gong to the southern Caribbean and I am getting a tan first. I didn't last time and boy did I burn. I looked like a lobster and it really hurt.
Reply:Yes, but even in a tanning bed use sunscreen because the uva rays can age you.
Reply:yes but use at least spf 50, your skin will get used to the uv rays but still be protected without getting damaged.
Reply:i'd say she's right.. sure tanning beds are bad for you but its not like you're going to be making a hobby out of it i'm guessing.

obviously just don't go too long or anything the first few times of tanning, depends how pale you actually are or if you tan easy.. doesn't take long tho either. Plus you don't wanna have to remember to "apply sunscreen every 2 hours".

I go a couple times a year before a trip or something too.. %26amp; i'm not addicted, sure it's not good, but people definitely overreact.
