If you use a tanning oil when your tanning outside, are u supposed to use sunscreen too?

like if i put on hawaiian tropic dark tan oil am i supposed to put on sunscreen too?? oh btw, don't give me **** about tanning, i don't care.

Just use the tanning oil by itself, as using sunscreen will defeat the purpose of getting a tan. I know, as I use to tan all the time and I used tanning oil.

i think that if you put on both, the sunscreen will counteract the tanning oil and then you wouldnt get as good of a tan.

Reply:Duh, the oil won't work with the sunscreen. You can't have it both ways. Either you look tanned and gorgeous in your youth or old, wrinkled and prone to skin cancer as you age. Question: do you want to look good and be healthy for as long as possible? Don't fry yourself in the oil. Use some care.
Reply:Well.....its like a compromise. Sunscreen will prevent you from getting a tan because it blocks the UV rays, which are the ones responsible for tanning. It is good to use a light sunscreen so you will tan, but over a longer period of time.

DON'T listen to people who say to not worry about not putting on sunscreen. Because I use that same exact tanning oil and tanning oil isn't sunscreen so it will NOT protect you from the sun. You could get skin cancer or worse. Trust me.
Reply:If you look on the bottle it will tell if it have SPF and a % if it doesn't then I guess you will have to,
Reply:Most tanning oils have spf in them so you should check the bottle if it does you should be ok from the suns harmful rays and that's what really matters. happy tanning.
Reply:ACTUALLY, If you READ the tanning oil it will tell you all the information you need :), Most tanning olis are about spf 15, but their is a reason for that. If you put suntan lotion on it will prevent tanning.

As for the rest of your body, i would think that the oil would be good enough. Idk if yours has any SPF in it, but im pretty sure that hawaiian tropic has 5spf.
