I'm just going once before I go on vacation. I don't need any "Don't go tanning it's bad for you" I KNOW! I'm just going one time. Also, any advice? Should i use an accelerator, sunscreen, tanning lotion, etc...?
How long does a tan from a tanning bed last if you go in for about 10 minutes?
Ok, I work at a tanning salon, and pretty much all of the answers you've gotten are crap answers. Sorry, but they are.
If you go into a 20 minute bed, for 10 minutes, you're probably not going to see anything changed what so ever. If you did it for about a week, going 10 minutes, I'm sure you'd have somewhat of a base tan, but not much. Depending on your skin tone and everything.
You should defiantly use an accelerator to start off with. Don't use sunscreen! That defeats the whole purpose of being in a tanning bed. The awesome thing about tanning beds is you have a less risk of being sunburned then sitting out in the sun all day because you can control your time in a bed.
Buy your tanning lotion from the salon you go to. Don't try to use a cheap tanning lotion from Wal-Mart or anything like that, because as the saying goes "you get what you pay for."
If you're just going to go into a bed once and be done with it, I wouldn't waste your money. You're not going to see good results from tanning just once, you'd have to go for a few days before your vacation to see results.
Hope I helped, and have fun on your vacation. Bring lip balm and sun block with you for outside!

Wow... the rudest answer was the one you picked for best, and she said the same thing everyone else said. Must be the tanning salon attitude.
You should be protecting your skin from the sun anyway - take care of your skin before you damage it for life. Report It
Reply:about 2-3 Months. depending on how fast your skin sheds
Reply:10 minutes
Reply:It lasts as long as any other tan but you may end up burned which is not what you want before vaca.
I would stick with self-tanner lotion where you can actually control it. You don't want to end up a lobster then not be able to go out. Try one that is a gradual build for your skin tone. Apply, let it develop, then apply more as you desire. That way you can control your color.
Reply:I know this isn't the answer you want, but the "tan" will fade forever if you don't get any more sun, but the damage the machine has done to your dermal layer is permanent!
Reply:going once for ten minutes... wont do anything you will prob burn and you will not even get a base tan from that
Reply:One time is actually a large waste of time. You won't get a tan from 10 minutes in a tanning bed once.
Reply:its not really going to work if you only go once. i would recommend using a tanning lotion with bronzer in it but with no more than 3 bronzers or else you're going to look orange. the day after you tan i would also recommend using a self tanner that way you can get the look that you want without tanning weeks before your trip since one trip to the tanning booth won't really do it.
Reply:You don't.
Reply:haha 10 min. thats funny... it doesnt last very long... but probably long enough to last thru your vacation... depending if u've been tanning or not beofre your vacation, maybe u should try 20 min... use the lotions that tingle, i think thats the accelerator, or somethign with a bronzer... and go more than once. cause the first time might give u a burn the 2nd time will make u darker. self tanners will turn u orange and just look bad... u might also try the spray on tan, "mystic tan" most tanning salons have them now, they are safer and give you a nice tan.
Reply:ur going to go in once??? darling its not going to anything for u...u need to go for two weeks to get a base tan with a tanning lotion that has bronzer in it....thats when u can have a tan which can last u for about a month and half...good luck
Reply:I know what you said but use a gradual tanner, get a fake tan or get a spray tan.
You seem stupid. Why on earth would you pay to be locked In a coffin like container and have light petled at you that will highly increase your likelihood of contracting skin cancer. Does that make sense. If you care about yourself then you wouldn't do that to yourself.
Reply:Tanning from tanning beds vary with each individual. Any noticeable tan would generally NOT appear after ten minutes. Most tanning sessions are about 1/2 hour. Somewhere between that first session and your tenth session you should notice it. Once you achieve your desired tan then a ten minute session could maintain it. If you go just once you are waisting your money. Not only will one ten minute tan not last, you wouldn't even notice a difference.
Reply:I used to work at a health club where we had tanning booths, and I've never seen anyone use it for 10 minutes, mainly because 10 minutes doesn't really do much. If it's your first time, then yes, start slow around 15 minutes, but you have to go constantly to keep an actual tan. Accelerator helps as well, but you're going to want to go more than once if you want to keep the tan.
Reply:10 minutes won't last long at all.. My sister had to go for 30 minutes everyday for a week before i could even notice. You should use a tiny bit of sunless tanner mixed with lotion so it doesn't streak.
