Is the tanning bed safe if you don't over do it?

I mean like a couple times a week for maybe 10 minutes each time. I thought about using the Mystic Tan to avoid the tanning bed, has anyone ever tried that? I don't even like wearing a skirt or shorts right now because I think I look too white so I want to do something.

Thanks!

I loved them for years %26amp; now my skin is starting to show it.

They are bad for you in any amount according to my dermatologist. What a nag !! I like the tanning spray - the tan look with no damage to skin %26amp; I can use heavy tanning lotion when out on my sailboat. No more wrinkles or cancer in the future.

Reply:Honestly, tanning beds are no good for you period. There is no safe amount of time to use them at all. I'm not saying to not use them at all, because I used to tan myself, even up to a couple years ago. But from a realistic point of view, Mystic Tan is safer, and you never have to wonder if you're giving yourself skin cancer.
Reply:UV rays are never actually safe, mystic tan just looks orangeish and fake and if your not careful it will get onto your clothes. Its actually safer to tan outside not compared to mystic tan.
Reply:tanning beds - no nope never
Reply:If you want to look like an old, cracked, dried out, thrift store, leather satchel when you're in your 30's and 40's, go for it.
Reply:The tanning bed isn't really safe, it's just as bad as the sun is for your skin, but if you want to get tan and do it safely the mystic tan would be good if you don't mind someone seeing you nude or in a bathing suit.......or you can go out and buy some sunless tanning lotion.........
Reply:Use the lotion or airbrush thing

I've read that UVA causes 4/5 or 9/10 of visible aging http://dermatology.about.com/library/bld...

be brave n be beautiful longer giant bunches of people like pale skin

as bizarre as this sounds look up nude at flickr.com http://flickr.com/ the difference between faces n the rest of people's bodies is strong evidence that sunscreen benefits skin
Reply:No, tanning beds are always dangerous. It only takes a couple of times a week for 10 minutes to end up with skin cancer later on....oh and did I mention the premature lines, wrinkles and age spots. If you want to look tanned, then make sure it comes out of a bottle, it's safe and you'll keep your skin looking young.

HTH : )
Reply:Tanning beds aren't good for your skin at all. No matter if you're sitting under there 10 minutes or 10 seconds.

There are plenty of lotions out there that you can use that will gradually and safely give you the tan you're looking for.

No need to prematurely age your skin for the sake of a skirt or shorts.
Reply:I just started tanning about 3 months ago and I can tell you that 3 days a week at 20 minutes a session is not a skin killer right now.... That doesn't go to say that it won't be in the future!! I have always been really white and people have made comments that I looked sick. So for my self esteem I decided to tan and I love going and it is the most peaceful 20 minutes in my day!! My skin looks great only because I use the lotion with no bronzers in it like my doctor suggested (Pro Tan's Glow Girl) and I use St Ives at night before I go to bed. I suggest talking to your dermatologist before you do though and see what they suggest for your skin type.
Reply:talk to your dermatologist, they would know wether that is to risky or otherwise use caution. by the look of your avatar you dont seem to fair skinned, so thats a good sign. but talk to your dermatologist and have them check on your skin to make sure that you dont have any mysterious bumps or warts that can get worse from tanning
Reply:They are worst than the sun,
