Can a naturally pale person become tan in a tanning bed?

Hi. I have been naturally pale my entire life. When I go out in the sun, I typically burn and freckle. If I were to start tanning in a tanning bed would I just burn or actually tan? Thanks

Yes, you can. You just have to start out in VERY small doses. Just a few minutes for the first few sessions and slowly increase as you keep going. If you overdo it, you will just get burned. You have to get your body used to the UV rays.

Chances are that in the past you weren't applying sunscreen as often as you should. We should not allow ourselves to burn in the sun. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before you intend on going outside or to the tanning place (you still need to wear sunscreen there) And you need to apply sunscreen every 30 minutes while you are in the sun. When it gets too hot outside, put on a big shirt or a wrap

Also, freckles can be a cause of sundamage and UV ray damage. Real freckles can just be brought out by the sun. Chances are you will continue to get freckles as you tan, but just make sure to have the right protection with you.

If you go to the tanning bed too often (over time) you can become orange.

Chances are you'd burn quickly. Do yourself a favor, and avoid that sort of thing; being pale, you're at a higher risk of skin cancer from sun exposure than most folks, and no tan is worth that.
Reply:you could get a little bit darker but it will not be nearly what it's worth.
