Tanning and stretch marks?

I am 21 years old, and I recently gained 20lbs in one year after getting married. (i eat whatever and whenever he eats... really bad habit) But now I am working out and losing weight. But I recently started to see stretch marks on my inner thigh, and my upper thigh! They are dark purple and red. I want to get them to fade.. but I heard tanning makes them worse. What do you think?
Tanning and stretch marks?
As you loose weight the stretch marks will fade to silver and diminish in size. Tanning does NOT make them worse, tanning only cosmetically darkens the skin in this condition.

Tanning is actually good for you when done in moderation because you get more Vitamin D in your skin, and this helps with your overall health. Vit D helps fight osteoporosis, and without this some people get internal organ cancer. There is no connection between tanning and skin cancer... go to TanningTruth.com. If your aunt Matilda tells you about skin cancer, tell her to shut up and get her facts right. Tanning is just a response to UV light, and it's normal and natural. Tanning helps you get Vit D that you can't get in food or supplements. And don't let the dermological terrorists tell you that tanning is bad for your skin, studies now prove that it's the failure to get enough sunlight that causes more cancers (and afterall, if people can get skin cancer where the sun don't shine explain that one to me!)

Don't let yourself get burned when tanning (the worst thing yu could do!) Slowly, slowly, Slowly build up a good tan and you'll find you look thinner, the stretch marks will fade, and you'll feel better about yourself. Tanning will help you stay on your diet, help your system stay regulated, help you sleep better, and help drive away depression (and some studies suggest that depression is a major cause of overeating.)

You go girl!
Tanning and stretch marks?
Tanning doesn't help anythng. Stretch marks don't go away. I have tried every product known to women and spent alot of money for nothing.
Reply:After time they will fade, after a little time. I had twins and talk about stretch marks, I had about 15 of them across the bottom of my belly, but after a little bit of time, they will turn white. Tanning will make them a little darker, but don't worry about it, look at it this way, They are only showing cuz you are losing weight, you are doing great!!! Good job and keep up the good work!! They will fade after time! They say vit E creme works, but never helped me much. Good luck!
Reply:Nothing you can do will really make them go away. I got them by gaining weight at first and now I have them due to my pregnancy with my daughter. They will turn a silvery color eventually and pretty much blend in. Tanning shouldn't make them worse.
Reply:I have found cocoa butter to be the best thing, and I have tried everything! They do fade! They occur when the tissue beneath the skin is stretched too much and breaks, now they are new the skin is particularly stretched and what you can see is the blood supply to the skin which is red and purple! This will turn white as it becomes less stretched and you will see the fat underneath the skin, not the blood supply. You need to keep the area supple and moisturised hence cocoa butter. Also, while they are red you can get laser treatment, this isn't as effective when they are white and it can be expensive. If you go for a stretch mark cream look for one that has vitamin a or retinol AND lactic acid or glycolic acid. But as I say I have found rich cocoa butter the best. They won't go away, they'll only get better, as long as you have a loving husband they aren't a problem!

ALSO, natural tanning with the sun and sunbeds may make them stand out as the red/white will be against a beige background not a pink/white one as it is now. Fake tan may help because that is ON top of the skin, not the skin itself.
