The regular lotions for tanning beds does not protect you from the UV rays right??

Tanning itself, meaning the changing of the skin color, is a symptom of damage.

You cannot get a tan and not have a type of damage. That's what a tan IS. It's like a symptom of UV light overdose.

There's a multitude of resources you can find on the Internet to back this up.

These are just simple facts.

"The short-term results of unprotected exposure to UV rays are sunburn and tanning. Long-term exposure causes prematurely aged skin, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, dark patches (lentigos, that are sometimes called "age spots" or "liver spots"), actinic keratoses. and actual skin cancers. Actinic keratoses are small (usually less than 1/4 inch) rough or scaly spots. Usually they develop on the face, ears, back of the hands, and arms of middle-aged or older people with fair skin, although they can arise on other sun-exposed areas of the skin. Although actinic keratoses are slow-growing and usually do not cause any symptoms, they sometimes turn into squamous cell cancer."

"Tanning - A tan is often mistaken as a sign of good health. Dermatologists know better. A suntan is actually the result of skin injury. Tanning occurs when UV rays enter the skin and it protects itself by producing more pigment or melanin.

Indoor tanning is just as bad for your skin as sunlight. Most tanning salons use ultraviolet-A bulbs. Studies have shown that UVA rays go deeper into the skin and contribute to premature wrinkling and skin cancer."

if you do to much tanning i think there is a chance you can get skin cancer
Reply:Hi...no- typically speaking regular tanning bed lotions do not block UV rays, they intensify them. I agree you don't want your face exposed to the rays because it can cause premature aging and wrinkles, so what I do is use SPF 15 (a higher SPF is not really necessary, but whatever you feel comfortable with) on my face, neck and the back of my hands and use the other on the rest of my body. Works great!
Reply:any kind of tan is sun damage. But, in moderation and depending on your skin type you should be ok.. do not waste your money on tanning beds if you use sunblock.. just spend some time outside with the sunblock and slowly. very slowly build a tan.
Reply:They say tanning beds cause cancer just like the sun---------who knows?! I don't think it matters what kind of lotion you use, though
Reply:Try Mystic Tan, it is a great fake bake that lasts about a week, ya go into the booth, it sprays on and you get a great tan without the risk of cancer causing uv rays! it runs about $25.00
Reply:U get burnt
Reply:Don't wear spf lotion on a tanning bed.....this ruins the acrylics that the beds are made of. Just go for 5 minutes or so once or twice a week so you don't burn. If you just like to be warm and don't want the harmful uv exposure then sit in a hot tub or warm bath, this can be just as relaxing as tanning....
Reply:tanning is damage to the skin. however, i myself go tanning in the tanning beds. no the lotion does not protect u from uv rays...it enhances really by using bronzing (fake tan) or deep conditioners to Undo the damage the tanning does to it. i myself only go twice a week to get color. i rarely am outdoors , therefore do not over expose. if u are looking for color, there are tons of spray on tans in a bottle for much less too (try the areosol they cover the best). just remember tanning in a tanning bed is like being out all day in the sun! so dont go often or you will def damage the skin! i also use spf on my face in the tanning beds to ward off too much damage on the thinnest skin on my body! good luck.
