Are u supposed to feel itchy after tanning?

ok i just signed up a monthly membership at hollywood tans yesturday and i purchased one of their tanning lotions and ive started to notice that my skin is red and itchy. i think im having some reaction to the lotion.





i know that my skin is red from the tanning but its not supposed to be itchy also Right?

no no and no! You are having a reaction to the lotion!! You need a new lotion!! also, redness is ok after tanning as long as it is just a mild red. If your skin is blotchy red, then that is a BIG problem.

Sunburnt skin gets itchy because it peels and flakes off eventually. So yes, you are supposed to get itchy.
Reply:Your itching might also be cause by a bed cleaning solution that is mixed to strong .. check and see if anyone else there is having the same prob..

I have been going to a solarium for the last 2 years.


Alot of tanning accelerators have a tingle factor. Some stronger than others.The tingle factor accelorates your circulation and gives a more instant tan. This in result gives you red patches (like you have been to close to the heater) and can cause itchiness. This should go down in half an hour how ever.


If it does not and the red patches are inflamed you may be alergic.





You can purchase accelerators with no tingle factor, which does the same thing, but the tan takes longer to been seen by the eye.





You may however have burnt your skin slightly, if this is the case tell your solarium center and they will put you in a weaker bed!
